Allah is saying, ‘Do not come to Me with the rights of others.’ How can we properly give justice to everyone and everything’s rights on us ?

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

Question: Allah is saying, ‘Do not come to Me with the rights of others.’ How can we properly give justice to everyone and everything’s rights on us ?

adil

It is possible. To be just, it is one of the quality of Allah swt. Adl, it is the most important thing, or it is a very very important thing in the Ottoman Khilafat. The rights of others. Because Allah swt is saying, ‘I forgive from every sins that you made, I forgive you. Whatever wrong, whatever sin that you made, I forgive you except for this two sins : Shirk, and taking away the rights of others.’ With Shirk, Allah swt may forgive. He has power over all things. But Allah is saying, ‘I will not forgive you until the person that you have taken the rights from has forgiven  you.’ Allah is saying, ‘I will not even accept your thanks if you don’t thanks the one who has help you.’

So, Adl, Adalat, is very important in Islam. And if only we have spent more time studying the Ottoman Empire than our own foolish idea of history, or home, or country, we would learn something; how this Empire that united dozens of nations together, this Empire that had allowed them all to exist with their own culture and language and history and religion, this Empire that has given everyone their rights, this empire that was holding up the rights of Allah and His Prophet (asws) first and the rights of the Awliya Allah high for six hundred years, we would learn something how to conduct our lives. We will learn how to conduct our families. We will learn how to live in a country. So, if only we have learned that. But they stopped us from learning our own history and they destroy our civilization They make us to forget and to say, ‘we had no civilization.’

So now, if we want our civilization, we have to graft to all these other existing ones to make it ourselves. How are  we going to learn now how to give justice to everyone? I have just said from a historical and social point of view, we have the Ottoman in front of us, not a year, not a hundred year, but six hundred years! Not ruling one nation, ruling dozens of nations, dozens of Kingdoms that saw the transitions of the world from the dark ages right up to the modern era. Tell me we cannot learn nothing from this empire that is holding the Quran and the Sunnah high? We can learn only good things from it!

How are we going to learn now from individual basis what is Adl, what is Rights, what is justice?

You have to go to the people of justice. Find the living Ottomans. Find the living Ottomans Sheykh. Very rare. We found one. Alhamdulillah. And he is teaching us how to have justice. Live in the dergah, and you will know how delicate everything is and you know how fragile everything is to be kept in balance and how wild a beast your ego is. But first concentrate on yourself. So many, they failed in that too. They only concentrate on others, that others egos are wild, but they are not looking at themselves, they are not being busy with themselves. They are looking but they are not being busy. They are being busy with others; how others are wrong, they do wrong things, they do everything is wrong, everything, but they are not looking to themselves.

You notice, you think the Sheykh is not noticing? You notice one time, the Sheykh is noticing a thousand times. But he is smiling and he is turning his head because that one has justice. That one has wisdom. That one knows when, and how, and why, and for whom. And he is only giving to people what they can carry at a certain time. And underlying everything, all that washing up and all that discipline, is extreme mercy, extreme love and mercy. You cannot say you have extreme love and mercy for each other. So don’t try to be so strict with each other too.

Holy Prophet brought the Shariat, but he is Rahmatil ‘alamin. The Awliya Allah, they have extreme mercy, they will wash you up, they will knock you wall to wall, they may choke you, yes, but they have extreme mercy. Because their only concern is to bring you to the highest stations in Paradise. We don’t have mercy for each other. We are very quick to anger. We are very quick to be jealous. We are very quick to be arrogant, to be stubborn. We don’t have too much mercy.

So now, when you are at the dergah  you will be taught how delicate everything is. You will be taught how everyone has to have a station, in that, not a spiritual station, no, but a station in that, this one Allah has created different, this Allah has created different, this Allah has created different. Everyone according to their stations. Because Prophet (asws) is saying, ‘conduct yourself with people according to their station.’ If it is a kid, you have to treat that one like a kid. If it is an olderly person you have to give the rights of that one as an olderly person. That one who is new, you have to give the rights of a new person. That one who is old, you have to give their rights. So this becomes now, very complex. It is very flexible, very alive.  People are thinking, tarikats are, people says, ‘oh, so difficult, so complicated.’ Eh, what else do you want? You think this is simple?

It is like someone going to Harvard and complaining, ‘ this is so difficult!’ Of course it is difficult. It is meant to be difficult because the prize is very high. You are coming to the highest Tarikat and it is supposed to be really simple? Allah, Allah. who are you trying to fool?

Some are saying that, but they are giving fake diploma. Understand? Fake Diplomas! Sheykh Effendi is not giving fake diplomas. Maybe he says, ‘I don’t even give you diplomas at all.’ You want diploma? You think you are worth it?

So, when you have a Sheykh, when you are in a Jamaat,  when you understand who is around you, at which time they are,  then  you understand how to give the rights, to people who are living, and how to give the rights to people who have passed. How to give the rights to people who are coming in the future. How to give the rights to people that have wronged in the past. How are you going to give the rights now?

Rights. This is what we are busy with too. First, keep the rights to Allah and His Prophet. Give the rights of your Sheykh, of your Murshid. And give the rights of all those whom Allah loves and they are bringing you to Allah. Then slowly you will learn how to give the rights of all those other people that you have taken away the rights from. And if you are busy with giving the rights of Allah and His Prophet, and all the rightly guided ones, and you don’t have too much time or knowledge or skill to give the rights to others that you have wronged in the past, they may help you out. Not to worry. Very easy for them.

InsyaAllah, we will learn this. This is what makes the dergah alive. Keep thinking. We will reach somewhere.
