Question: I am not a person with many means. What Is The Best Or Different Forms Of Sadaqa I Can Give For Myself And For Others I make intention to help?
Sadaqa, Charity, doesn’t depend on whether you are materially rich or materially poor. Charity depends on whether you are generous or you are not. And beyond generosity, charity depends on whether you see yourself as just a holder of trust, of things that comes your way.
People think: only when I am rich I can give. No. When you don’t have anything and you cannot give, definitely when you are rich you are not going to give. It is not according to how much, it is according to your intention. If you think that you are a generous person, then that time possibility you are not a generous person. Because the man is still thinking, ‘this is mine and I’m giving, I’m being generous.’ Awliya Allah, like our Sheykh his name is Abdul Kerim, the servant of the most Generous One, Kerim being one of the names of Allah, he doesn’t consider anything that passes through him belonging to him. It belongs to Allah. It’s just passing through from him. Like the Mevlavi shows that whirl, one hand is to the Paradise and the other hand is down. They are not taking it. It is to give. It is open. It passes through.
Prophet (asws) is saying, if you have nothing to give, give a glass a water, give one date, give a smile. Say good things to people. That is charity. Be around them that when they are around you, they feel themselves light. You are taking their burdens, you are making it easy. That is a charity. Don’t be around people, and people feel, ‘ ehh, this person again.’ No. Be around people that they get very happy that they are around you. You don’t have to know so much, but you are being a nice, easy person, you are going to carry their burdens, and that time you are being very very generous and you are being a charitable one. InsyaAllah. Make that intention. Allah will send help to you. SelamAleykum.
