Question: How do we keep up the passion in the mid part of Ramazan?
Do different things. Shake it up. Do different things. If it’s becoming a routine, change the routine. You are not really praying so much, pray more. You are sleeping too much, change that, change your sleeping time. There’s only couple of hours before the sahur and you used to just try to sleep, don’t sleep. Stay awake a little bit. Find ways to do it.
Sit down and think and understand more. Because the bottom line is also the kind of work that you are doing. You cannot find the passion, but are you doing the work? There is still some good in it, a lot of good. Because until you reach to that point where you are able to control your passion and to bring it up when you don’t have it, doing the work itself is going to safe you. So don’t say, ‘I have no passion so I’m not going to do the work. When I have passion then I’m going to do the work.’ No, do the work, whether you have passion or not. Maybe Allah is testing you. So easy for people to do so many things with passion. But it’s more difficult to do it when you don’t have the passion. Maybe Allah is covering that up for a little bit to test you. Only when you are feeling good, you are going to be worshiping to Him? When you don’t feel good, you are not going to? Then you are not being sincere.
Insya’Allah, may Allah give us more passion in this month and the rest of the days. Shake it up a little bit. That’s why I’m saying to murids, some are intelligent and they are spending more time at the Dergah. Some they are coming from thousands of miles away because they say, we want to increase this passion, because there are centers of passion, there are passionate people and there are passionate places and there are passionate work and activity. Run to those people who have passion. You don’t have passion, run to those who have passion. They may spray you, Sheykh Effendi is saying, they may infect you with a good passion. Run to those who are doing things with passion, then you will get that passion. Run to the areas where there is passion there. Don’t say, sitting at home watching TV, sleeping all day, and say, ‘I don’t have passion.’ That’s why the Dergah it is very important. You are losing something, come here, it gives you a little bit more energy that you can go back, insya’Allah, with that topped up.
WaminAllahu taufiq. Al-Fatiha. Amin. SelamAleykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu. Insya’Allah ar-Rahman this much is enough. And may Allah forgive me, may Allah bless you, may Allah bless our Sheykh, increase his station and may Allah always send his sohbet to us, to make a difference in our lives, for us to wake up in this month. Insya’Allah. WaminAllahu Taufiq. Al-Fatiha.
