Question: Why do we get washed up? Is it because we committed a sin or are we in ghaflat or because we fail to destroy the ego?
Why you get washed up? Because you need to get clean up. Why do you wash the clothes? Because it’s dirty. So if it’s dirty, we wash it up, you become clean again. That’s why you get washed up. You want to remain dirty, it’s your right too. You don’t have to stay to get washed up like me. You can say, ‘I’m clean.’ Then go somewhere else, it’s okay. But to be washed up by our Sheykh, it’s a big blessing. Because he’s reminding us, and he’s making us to be clean. He doesn’t have to do that. But he’s doing it.
I know so many Sheykh, they don’t do that because either they are too scared from their people, or they don’t have enough authority, or it’s just too much trouble. It’s a lot of trouble to guide people from their wrong characteristics to right characteristics. Especially invested and loving and being concern. Not just mouthing platitude, not just giving lips service, not just saying something generally, but to be concern in their lives. It’s very difficult because it takes more energy. It takes more time. You are not just sitting here saying, ‘oh, do good, don’t do bad things.’ No. they are coming, they are consulting you.
Not too many people they are given that energy to do that. So easy for them just to talk about love of Prophet, to talk about secrets of the light. You can know the secrets of the Paradises and the earth, but you don’t know your own secret, you are lost, you gain nothing. If that secret that you have it is still covered with all this evil of your ego, you can know all the other secrets, you are still evil. It’s no good.
So, that is one characteristics that we are missing from our Sheykh. But he’s washing up in different ways now. So, again, don’t think that you are going to destroy your ego. First understand what your ego is. So many people they cannot even understand what the ego is. You don’t understand what ghaflat is. We don’t like to mention the word sin so much. We are not Wahabbi to say this is a sin. We say it’s a mistake, it’s a wrongdoing, it’s something that you are doing that is not so good. To make your nafs amara into a nafs mutmain, to make your ego from a disobedient ego into an obedient ego, it takes a lot of effort. It takes a lot of power and it takes years to do it sincerely. And once you are able to understand that, knowledge will come to you from different ways, different sources. It’s not necessary to know all this secret things. This much I know. If you want to listen, it’s up to you. You don’t want to listen, then don’t listen. You don’t like to get wash up, don’t come. SelamAleykum.
