All praises are due to Allah, Lord of the Universes. All praises are due to Allah who is the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Hidden, the One who has Might and Power over all things. All praises are due to Allah who has created Adam (asws) from water and clay, and who has honored the Children of Adam. All praises are due to Allah who sent His Habib, Sayyidina Muhammad (asws), as the Mercy to the Universes.

And may all peace and blessings be upon the Crown of Creation, the Imam of the Messengers, the Master of the Prophets, the Intercessor of the Day of Judgment, the One with the Most Perfect Manners, Sayyidina Muhammad (asws), and upon his noble family and blessed companions, especially upon the Four Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Hz. Abu Bakr el-Siddiq, Hz. Umar el-Faruk, Hz. Osman el-Ghani, and Hz. Ali el-Murtaza, and all those who follow them until the Last Day.

jummah mubarak

O Believers! Welcome to you on this Holy Day of Jummah. Welcome to you as we are getting ready to enter to the Holy Month of Zul Hijja. Insha’Allah ar-Rahman, we will be amongst those believers who are making the preparations and who will be ready to be in the service of their Lord. And we should make that intention now, to be from those who not just in these months, but for our whole lives, are crying out, ‘Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, we are at your service ya Allah.’

O Believers! Allah (swt) is saying to us in the Holy Quran: BismillahirRahmanirRahim, “Know all of you that the life of this world is but play and amusement, a show and mutual boasting and multiplying, competing among yourselves, riches and children. Here is an example: How rain and the crops which it brings forth, delight the hearts of the farmers; soon it dries up; you will see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a severe punishment. And there is also Forgiveness from Allah and  from His Good Pleasure. And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion?”

And in another ayat Allah (swt) is saying: BismillahirRahmanirRahim, ‘Those who desire the life of this world and its glitter,- to them we shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein,- and they will not be deprived of that. Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do.’

Rasulallah (asws) is saying in his Hadith Sherif: This world is cursed and cursed is what is in it, except for the remembrance of Allah Almighty and what brings one near to Him and the teacher and the student.

Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon. O Believers. Understand that this dunya, it is our enemy. So many believers today, from east to west, north to south, they have forgotten this reality. They have fallen in love with this dunya. They have fallen in love with the glitter of this dunya. They have fallen in love with the distractions of this dunya. They have fallen in love with the lies of this dunya. And once a man falls in love with this dunya, once he puts that love in his heart, that heart has no room for Akhiret. The love of the dunya and the love of the Akhiret, they cannot exist in the same heart. And what is this dunya that we are falling in love with? What is its reality?

One day Holy Prophet (asws) was talking to a Sahabi named Dahhaak and said, Ya Dahhaak! What is your food? He responded: “Oh Messenger of Allah! Meat and Milk! He said: “Then what happens to it?” He said: it becomes that which you know! (meaning human waste). Holy Prophet (asws) said “Indeed Allah has made that which is given out by the son of Adam, the excretion of the son of Adam, as an example of the Dunya.” So right there, in that Hadith, in simple language, the Holy Prophet (asws) is telling us what dunya is. He is saying that Allah (swt) has made the waste of the son of Adam as an example of the reality of this dunya. And that is what we are running after. And all Evliyas, all of the Friends of Allah, they are warning us against this Dunya. Because the EvliyaAllah, the friends of Allah, they take the Holy Prophet (asws) as their example.

Hz. Hasan al-Basri (ra) is saying: So beware of this dunya that is falling down and is misleading and deceiving, being decorated by its tricks and having tricked (others) by its traps, and having killed its people with its hopes. It looks forward with anticipation towards the one who proposes to it for marriage. Hence it becomes like the unveiled bride – all the eyes are looking towards it, and the souls are in love with it, and the hearts are captivated by it. And understand that even though this dunya decorates itself and presents itself like a bride to us, its reality is very ugly.

When Holy Prophet (asws) went on Miraj, he saw one old woman who was wearing beautiful clothes and wearing the best of jewelry, wearing make ups, wearing nice perfumes and she started calling to Holy Prophet (asws) saying, Ya Muhammad, wait, I need to ask you for something. But the Holy Prophet (asws) ignored her completely. And when he and Jibril (as) passed her, it was revealed that she was an old, twisted, ugly woman. And Holy Prophet (asws) asked, Ya Jibril, who was that?’ And Jibril (as) said, ‘It is known to you Ya Rasulullah, this is the Dunya.’ So understand that this dunya is always trying to trick us. And understand that the reality of this dunya is false, and it is very ugly. Look at what is happening in this world today, in this cruel dunya. Look at what is happening to the innocents, to the babies, to the ones with no crime, look at what is happening to them in this dunya. And that is from the ugliness of dunya.

We have a choice. Are we going to turn our faces toward this dunya, or are we going to keep ourselves focused on the Akhiret life? Hazrat Ali (kw) is explaining this choice to us, saying: Verily the dunya is coming to an end, and the Akhiret is coming to a beginning and they both have children. So be children of the Akhiret and don’t be children of the dunya. because today there is action with no account and tomorrow there’s account with no action.

Meaning that today, you can do whatever you want, because the judgment day is not in front of you. But tomorrow on the Judgment Day, you will be judged, and you will have no opportunity to do whatever you want. You have no opportunity to act. You have no opportunity to ask for forgiveness. You have no opportunity  for redemption. So what must we do while we are in this dunya to be called from the Children of Akhiret?

be in zikr

The Holy Prophet (asws) is telling to us in the first Hadith we mentioned in the Khutba. He is saying that everything in this Dunya is cursed except for the remembrance of Allah, the Zikrullah, and except for the teacher and the student. So if you want to avoid the curse of this dunya, then be with those who are making Zikrullah. If you want to be free from the curse of this dunya, follow a Teacher. Follow a guide. If you want to be free from the curse of this dunya, become a student. What do we call becoming a student, who is following a guide, a teacher, who is making zikr? This is the reality of Tarikat. This is Tasawwuf. So to be free from the curse and the punishment of this dunya, we must be in Tarikat. Not as an optional extra thing. If we want to be counted as the Children of Akhiret that Hz. Ali is describing, then Tarikat is the Way to that.

O Believers! O Murids! Listen to the words of Sahib el-Sayf, Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani, who is saying: ‘So, our aim, the believer’s aim, it is not Dunya, it’s not this world. The believer’s aim is Akhirat. The believer should not be worrying so much for this Dunya, the activities of this Dunya. But today’s believers, they are sunk in it. Twenty-four hours they are in trouble and they think that they are going to fix it. The more they leave the way of Allah, the more they sink in trouble. Leave things, submit yourself and look how things are going to work for you. You cannot do anything by yourselves. Allah subhana wa ta’ala is saying to us, `We have created man weak. Man may be the weakest creature in his form, in his outside form. But what We have given to him, with that secret, he may be the strongest one. He is ruling everything on the earth, the Ins and Jinns.’

We are asking to be from those ones that are counted as the people of Akhiret, the people of Zikr, as those who are counted as the students in this life who are free and safe from the curse of this dunya. And we are asking for the return of our Sheykh, for the coming of Mehdi (as), to free this world from tyranny and cruelty, to help the innocent and oppressed ones, to bring the ruling of Allah (swt) and Holy Prophet (asws) back to the face of the earth, and to be from their helpers. Amin.
