Question: How can I prepare for death? What matters the most at that point?
A very good question. It is a very easy question. It’s very easy. Because on the Day of Judgment, what is the first thing that we are going to say? Who knows? Put up your hand (Sheykh asks the jamaat)? I’ve said this. Only a couple of hands. Every time I’m saying this.
Whatever that matters to you, that’s what you are going to say, that’s what you are going to repeat, that’s what you are going to make a zikr of. Whatever that matters to you, that’s what you are going to be busy with. That is the unchanging law. You cannot dispute this. The Holy Prophet (asws), when he is going to be raised, first one to be raised on the Day of Judgment, first word that will be coming out from his mouth, he’s going to say, ‘Ummati, Ummati – O my nation.’ He’s worrying. He’s with us. His love is with us. He’s busy with us. Ummati, Ummati.
But his ummat is going to wake up on the Day of Judgement, not calling Allah and His Prophet. Majority, they are going to say what? Nafsi, Nafsi – O my ego, O my ego. Meaning O my ego, how you have fooled me. It’s not even going to say, sheytan, dunya, but ‘O my ego, O my ego.’ So what matter most at that point, it is your ego. And the intelligent one is going to say, if that is what matters at that point, let me get ready now. Let me take care of it now. And this is what forty tarikats they are busy with. For one thousand four hundred years, following the advice of the Holy Prophet (asws), to be busy with what matters most, which is the nafs. And concentrating on that is the Naksibendi Tarikat. And concentrating on that within the Tarikat is the Osmanli Naksibendi Dergah, under the leadership of SahibulSaif Sheykh Abd Kerim al-Kibrisi al-Rabbani. Because all his life he is teaching us how to prepare for death. All his life. Every single day. Every single day, he’s reminding us of death, how to prepare for death. He’s not teaching us, he’s not being busy with how to prepare for this life.
Life is easy. It’s going to come. If you are running after Allah and His Prophet (asws), they are going to make the dunya to run after you. They are going to make it easy for you to survive as a believer. Don’t think the dunya running after you means that you want big houses, big cars and big bank account, it’s going to come easy for you. No. We are not being busy with that. It’s going to come after you? No. It’s not going to. Just easy life. Blessed life. With barakat. That whatever small that you have, you feel and you taste. And you are happy. You are satisfied. That you know how much that you have before you’re meeting that EvliayaAllah. You earn thousands before, but it doesn’t give you that same taste. In fact, it’s all coming and just going without any effect on you dunya or ahiret. This is what we are doing. If you want, be with us. SelamAleykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu.
