All praises are due to Allah, Lord of the Universes. All praises are due to Allah who created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is between them. All praises are due to Allah who created our father Adam (AS), and blew into him the Breath of Life. All praises are due to Allah who has honored the Bani Adam. All praises are due to Allah who sent the Most Honored One as the Seal of the Prophethood.
And may all peace and blessings be upon the Crownbearer of the Revelation, the Master of the Two Worlds, the Most Noble of Mankind, the Intercessor on the Day of Qiyamah, the One who never stops saying “Ummati, Ummati,” Sayyidina wa Habibuna Muhammad (AS), and upon his noble family and blessed companions, especially upon the Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Hz. Abu Bakr el-Siddiq, Hz. Umar el-Faruq, Hz. Osman el-Ghani, and Hz. Ali el-Murtaza, and all those who follow them until the Last Day.
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! Welcome to you on this Holy Day of Jummah, the First Jummah of the Holy Month of Zul Hijjah. O Believers! These are some of the most special days of the year. Allah (swt) has taken an oath by these days in the Holy Quran, in Surah al-Fajr, saying: By the Dawn. Any by the Ten Nights (89:1-2). And Holy Prophet (asws) is saying: No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Zul Hijja). Then some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even Jihad?” He replied, “Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah’s sake) and does not return with any of those things.
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon. We are in the Days of Hajj. And we are making intention to keep ourselves clean and pure, and to live in these days with the intention that we are making the Hajj. And we are asking our Lord, Allah (swt) to accept us to be from amongst the Hujjaj. Because it is not the physical action of the Hajj that is accepted by Allah (swt), but it is the pure heart that is burning with the passion out of love of Allah, love of Rasulallah, and love of Awliyaullah, that is accepted.
Just like what happened to Hz. Abdullah ibn Mubarak. That one year he had finished his Hajj and he was resting near the Kaaba, when he saw two angels appear. And they were having a conversation. One said to the other, ‘Do you know how many people came for Hajj this year?’ And the second angel said, ‘600,000 came.’ And the first angel asked, ‘How many people’s Hajj has been accepted?’ The second angel replied, ‘I would be surprised if anyone’s Hajj has been accepted at all.’ And Hz. Ibn Mubarak, he became so shocked, thinking that people had made so much effort to come to the Hajj, to do the actions of the Hajj, they had spent so much to come to visit the Kaaba. And then he heard one of the angels say, ‘There is a cobbler in Shaam-i-Sherif (Damascus) named Ali. He did not perform the Hajj this year, but Allah (swt) has accepted his intention of Hajj. For his sake, the Hajj of everyone else will be accepted.’
Right away, Hz. Ibn Mubarak rushed to Damascus. And when he got there he found this simple man, this cobbler, named Ali. Hz. Ibn Mubarak, he was a very famous scholar in those times, so this simple man was very surprised that this well-known person was seeking him out. Hz. Ibn Mubarak asked, ‘Did you make intention for Hajj this year?’And Ali the Cobbler, he replied, ‘For thirty years I have lived in the hope of performing the Hajj. This year I had saved enough to go for Hajj, but Allah did not will it, so I couldn’t make my intention translate into action.’ And Hz. Ibn Mubarak started asking, ‘well, what was the reason that you couldn’t make it to Hajj?’ And Ali the Cobbler he said again, ‘It was the will of my Lord.’
But Hz. Ibn Mubarak kept asking until Ali the Cobbler understood and he began to speak. And he said,’I have been saving money for thirty years for Hajj. And this year I had saved enough money. But before the Hajj season, I went to the house of my neighbor to check on him. His family had just sat down for dinner when I entered the house. My neighbor was avoiding my eyes and was looking very ashamed. I thought out of Edep he was going to invite me for dinner, but he was trying not to look at me. Finally, my neighbors eyes began to fill with tears and he said, “O my neighbor, O Ali, please forgive me that I cannot invite you for dinner. For three days we have had no food in this house.” I could not bear to look at the pain of hunger in the faces of my children anymore. So I went out today to look for food, and all I could find was a dead donkey. So I cut the meat from it and brought it home, and my wife cooked it. It is helal to us because of our extreme condition, but I cannot offer this dead meat to you.’
And Seyh Efendi in his sohbet is telling us, that Ali the Cobbler began to cry and he was saying to himself, “Oh how foolish am I. I am preparing to go to Hajj and my neighbor is hungry. What kind of Hajj am I going to make?”And he gave all the money he had saved to his neighbor. And for the sake of that Ali the Cobbler, the Hajj of all those who went to Hajj was accepted. He did not make tawaf. He did not run between Safa and Marwa. He did not go to Mina or Muzdalifa, or stone the Jamarat. But he performed a pure, good action that pleased Allah (swt). And for that sake, Allah (swt) accepted his intention, and accepted everyone’s Hajj.
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! O Believers! We have truly reached to the End of Times. Believers are not helping believers. Those so-called Muslim countries that have so much wealth, that have so much oil, that have so much resources, they are hoarding that wealth for themselves and for their selfish desires.
There are Muslims in this world from Burma to Syria, that they are starving, that they are being tortured, that they are being driven out of their houses, and nobody is helping them. Yet the Hajj is full. More than two million people are gathering in Mecca for Hajj. But while the women and children of the Nation of Muhammad are hungry and crying, while the innocents of this nation are being slaughtered, when those without crime are being tyrannized, what kind of acceptance are the luxury Hujjaj of the 21st century going to find?
O Believers- we want to be like Ali the Cobbler. We want to have those hearts that are open and caring for our fellow believers. We want to be those ones that are running to help others. We want to be those ones that are spending our wealth, our time, our health to help the Ummat-i-Muhammed. This is the Way of our Sheykh, this is the Way of our Grandsheykh, this is the Way of our Golden Chain. This is the work of our Osmanli Dergahi.
O Believers! Understand that we are in the worst times. We are in the times that every prophet warned his nation about. We are in the times that generations before us used to pray that they would die before this time. We are in those times that Holy Prophet (asws) prophesized 1400 years ago. He is saying in his Hadith Sherif: By the One who my soul is in His Hand, the Hour will not be established until Allah sends rulers who are liars, and ministers who are immoral, and supporters who are traitors, and scholars who are oppressors, and Qaris who are sinful. Their appearance is like the appearance of holy people, and their hearts are more rotten than dead meat, their desires are different and so Allah will send upon them fitna which will cover them in darkness and so they will be destroyed therein.
By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, Islam will be taken away part by part, until nobody even says “Allah Allah.” You must enjoin the good, and you must forbid the evil, or Allah will make the ruler over you the worst of you, who will torment you with the worst of punishment, then the best of you will make Du’a and it will not be answered. You must enjoin the good, and you must forbid the evil, or Allah will send against you those who will have no mercy to your young and no respect for your elderly.
The one who has eyes will see that we have reached to that time. Day and night, East to West, we are seeing that the Ummat-i-Muhammed has reached to the most miserable condition that it has seen in 1400 years. And in this time, what is the solution? Is it to make Dawah Conferences? Is it to make Mega Mawlids? Is it to go out on the street and protest? Holy Prophet (asws) is telling us what to do in this end of times. He is saying (asws): There will come a time when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which he will take to the tops of mountains and the places of rainfall so as to flee with his religion from the afflictions.
O Believers. We are endlessly saying Shukr ya Rabbi, Elhamdulillah, that our Sheykh established this place for us, this Dergah for us. This is our place of safety. And we are following the orders of the Holy Prophet (asws) insha’Allah.
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon. In less than one week we are going to reach the day of Kurban. What is Kurban? It is to cut an animal, to sacrifice an animal, for the sake of Allah (swt). It is to copy that action of our Grandfather Ibrahim (as), who had so much devotion to his Lord that he was prepared to sacrifice his son Ismail (as). It is to copy Ismail (as), and to be ready to be sacrificed for the sake of Allah.
O Believers- are we ready to make that sacrifice? Not just by word to say, I am sacrificed for you Ya Rabbi, ya Rasulallah. How do we check ourselves to see if we are really ready for that. We must check to see what sacrifices we are making in our daily life. Are we sacrificing anything for the sake of Allah? Are we sacrificing our comfort? Are we sacrificing our time? Are we sacrificing our wealth? Are we sacrificing what our ego wants, and trading it for what our Sheykh wants? If not, then we should not fool ourselves.
And the way of Sahib el-Sayf Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani, it is the way of sacrifice. His life, it was a life of sacrifice. He gave everything, he gave his life, for others. And he is saying, This way, this Nakshibendi way, it is nothing but sacrifice.
O Believers! Let us make intention to be simple believers. Let us make intention to run from the fitna of this Ahir Zaman. Let us make intention to be the believers who are on the road of Sahib el-Sayf. Let us make intention to live as he lived. Let us make intention to be the people of sacrifice. Amin.
