Question: Some Sahaba were physically tortured by the mushriks, Do murids also have to go through this?
BismillahirRahmanirRahim. May Allah swt not test us. We are always asking Allah never to test us. We are not trying to be macho by saying, ‘oh, they are going through, we are going to go through.’ We are asking always for Allah’s mercy.
Allah swt is saying in the Quran e-Kerim, not about people of this path, not about people of any path, He is speaking about those ones who are aiming for the station of the believer, the highest station of those ones who are close to Allah swt and Allah swt is saying what? ‘Don’t you think that We are not going to test you? O those ones who are aiming for the high station.’
Does Allah swt know that we are very weak? Yes, of course. Again and again we hear Jibreel (as) saying during the Mi’raj, to the Holy Prophet (asws), saying, ‘your nation is very weak O Prophet. Your nation is very weak. It’s not like the earlier nations.’ Physically we are even the weakest. From the earlier nations, they live hundreds of years, thousand years. But for us, we have become very weak in every way. So we are not asking Allah to test us. But whatever that they went through, if we are walking in their footsteps, for us to understand their footsteps. The Sheykh that time, to the murids, is going to make us to taste a little bit of something. Not because we ask, but because it is necessary for us to experience something to understand. It is the Sheykh that is going to open things up.
Don’t ask and don’t push. And you will understand that time, and it is going to bring you more faith. You are going through some sickness, you are going to understand how the Prophets they felt when they were sick. You will understand how the Sahabis went through when they were sick. You experience some hunger, you are going to understand. You experience anything, you will understand. Everything that you experience is going to bring you to the way of the Prophet (asws) and those ones who are following him. It is not going to be something which is separate. Sahaba e-Kiram, to say some of them are tortured, some of them are not, leave that. Yes, whether or not they are tortured, every Sahabi did something for Islam. Every single Sahabi did something for the Holy Prophet (asws), and they submitted to the Prophet (asws). Our aim is that. To serve. But you can only serve sincerely if you submit. InsyaAllah. May Allah put more mercy to us. Fatiha.
