Question: I have a brother in his twenties and has a heavy drinking problem. He recently returned from Umrah. We tried many things but they don’t seem to work. What would you suggest?
Astaghfirullah al-Azeem wa Atubu ilaih. He should come to the Dergah. Stay here 40 days. Insya’Allah it will be easy. Sometimes some people they want to go here and go there. We are saying “Hold your horses, not necessary for you to go”.
“I must go. It is calling me. I must go to Kaaba, I must go to Medina, I must go”.
We say we are not going to stop you from going, but don’t be in a rush to go. Especially there are so many people they want to go to Umrah before they go to Hajj. Hajj it is farz. Umrah it is Sunnat. When you go for your Hajj at the same time you can make your Umrah anyway. But you must understand the heaviness, the blessings that is coming down during the time of Hajj is different from the time of any other time. So if you are not completing your religion, how that time you going to be able to fight against the ego and the inside of you, the evil parts that is pulling you towards jahannam. This is what majority of the people they are thinking all these kinds of problems are. Alhamdulillah at least the person is not saying, they said that the problem is because of the black magic. First thing they do is blame others. Then they say, okay just go to Umrah you will be fine. What is that? You think a donkey who circles around the Ka’aba 7 times can be a Haji? It’s still a donkey.
So if it’s possible you should be in different places for detox. And the Dergah is a good place for that. Stay here for some time, you will see certain things are going to change. But that depends on your level of faith now also. Some people they have more faith in Doctors and Therapists and all this kinds of places and it is not really giving you that much, especially if they keep giving you medicines and drugs and other things that it’s not going to solve too many of your problems, it may bring new ones. But they believe in that, more. They believe in that more because you pay money for it. We are not asking for nothing, but we are asking people to be sincere. Accept, sincere and submit, obey that time will be easy Insya’Allah.
Selam Aleykum wa Rahmathullah. Wa Minallahu taufiq Al-Fatiha. Amin. Selam waleykum.
