Understand the hidden objects of worship that we put in our hearts

polish your heart

This enemy is that creature that Allah (swt) has put inside of us. This creature that has disobeyed Allah and continually disobeying Allah, this creature that is inside of each and every one of us, is not looking to see whether you are black or you are white, it’s not looking to see whether you are male or female, young or old, religious or not religious, Sunni or whatever that you are. It is in each and every one of us, believer and unbeliever and this is the nafs. And if we are not understanding this enemy, from the outside you look as if you are so well protected, doing everything properly but this enemy inside is already guiding you.

So in the guise, in the form and the look of religion, even spirituality, you can do the most damage in this world. This is the nafs. That the EvliyaAllah, they are saying, ‘the nafs is 70 times more powerful than sheytan.’ Of course. Because sheytan disobeyed Allah ones but our nafs is in continuous disobedience to Allah (swt). And this nafs is something that is so powerful that there has to be a way to be able to handle this, there has to be a method that the Prophet (asws) himself taught to some of his Sahaba e-Kiram, to say those one who are going to understand themselves more, because only by understanding yourself you can understand Allah. If you don’t understand Allah you cannot worship Him, because Holy Prophet (asws) has said, ‘the one who understands himself understands his Lord, the one who knows himself he knows his Lord.’

So this is method of understanding yourself, understanding your nafs, this is beyond the amals or the ibadats that you are doing. You are looking at the intention. You are looking at the intention and you are checking your actions according to the intention. You are looking to see that whatever amals, whatever actions that you are doing, it is not corrupted. This is something that even Isa (as), Jesus (alaihisalam), he came to teach to the bani Israel to say, ‘You have the Shariat, now I am going to bring you the Tariqat, the spirituality.’ Because, you are doing everything perfectly but if inside you still have, like Prophet (asws) is saying, ‘If you still have a drop of envy in your heart it is forbidden for you to enter into Paradise.’ So what is this ego that is inside of us? What is this ego that is sitting in our hearts? What is this ego that the Prophet (asws) says, ‘Say la Ilaha Illallah.’ We say it one time, why we have to repeat it over and over again? What Ilahs are we talking about now? If we say ‘La Ilaha Illallah,’ what Ilahs?

Muslims, we don’t have to fear it, there are no longer any statues, any idols, any gods around the Kaaba e-Kerim. Isn’t it? You don’t put statues or idols in your house. Nobody worships any other Ilah. When we are looking with these eyes, two billion Muslims, nobody is worshipping the Ilah, no one is worshipping other gods except for Allah. But why we are saying now ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ over and over again? That there is huge blessings that come down to person who says ‘La Ilaha Illallah.’ So what is this Ilah? Something to think about. That the Prophet had said 1400 years ago and He has explained it and He has continued until today, that Ilah, it is that hidden shirk. What is that Ilah?  That is that hidden objects of worship that we put in our hearts, which is a throne of Allah, to compete against to Allah. What is that? So now you sit, you try to understand, ‘What are those Ilahs that I have put?’

In these days majority are going to not understand or not even try to understand something that is a basic understanding in Islam in the Ahle Sunnah Aqidah. Your ego – that is an Ilah. The sheytan, that is an Ilah. If you follow, it becomes an Ilah. Don’t say, ‘we don’t follow,’ because Allah is warning us not to follow. If He warns us not to follow that means one way or another we fall into that trap. This dunya, this world, it is another Ilah. The hawa, our desires, it is another Ilah. These are the four enemies to man. Holy Prophet (asws) is saying, ‘Be careful of hidden shirk. It is more difficult to detect the hidden shirk than a black ant on a black rock in the blackest part of the night.’ So the Mumins, the believers, those ones that they saying Shahadat, they are praying they are fasting they are giving zakat, sadaqa, they going to the Umrah, they are doing everything, now they say, now it is time for us to look deep into the intentions of our actions, not just to do. Because the Sunnat of the Rasulullah (asws), it is not just something which is physical. It has to deal with edep, with your manners and how, what kind of manners that you have in doing all these actions. This is very easy for everyone to understand and once you start understanding this within yourself, it is an endless ocean. This is a knowledge that you are not going to be able to find in books, because the knowledge that you are going to look for is within you. It is inside. What is that knowledge? That is knowledge of yourself.

The man who knows everything but he doesn’t know himself is the most ignorant and he is the most dangerous person because he doesn’t know himself. The man who knows himself, he doesn’t know anything else, Allah will make him to know, Allah will send him knowledge, because he knows himself, knowledge that is going to give benefit to himself and to others. This is what we are concentrating on. You don’t have to be a Saint or you don’t have to be a Scholar to understand. What is happening now in this world in the name of, let’s say this part because there are so many people are doing so many things in different names too, since we are talking about this Ummat, since we are talking about Islam, those who are saying we are doing things in the name of Islam. You don’t have to be a Scholar to understand, they may do everything perfectly from the outside but the nafs it is the wildest creature that if we are not controlling it, it will declare itself to be an Ilah. It declares itself to be Allah to say, ‘I am right. I am the only one who is right. I don’t follow anyone except for Allah. I don’t have to listen to anyone. Listen to a Prophet? He is a man.’ Haasha Astaghfirullah. ‘Why I have to follow him? Hmm, I don’t have to follow Sahab e-Kiram. So what? They are humans too. I don’t have to follow any Imams of any Mazhab. They are humans, they make mistakes. EvliyaAllah, Saints? What kind of a stupidity is that!’ They are going to say. ‘Any one, no. I only follow Allah”.

But what are you? Aren’t you human? You are human. So you put yourself out. You are saying that you are better than everything else. So in essence what are you saying now? You are going to worship Allah according to your ego. You are going to worship Allah according to your path. You are declaring, there is only Allah and you. Where is that second part of that Shahadat now? You are saying there is only Allah and you. You are declaring yourself to be a Prophet. This is very dangerous. We have come to that situation now where majority they don’t want to follow the way of those whom Allah has favoured. But they follow their own way. But by following your own way, you are going to deviate. By following your own way, you are going to pull the anger of Allah. Forty times a day Allah is commanding us to read the Surat ul-Fatiha, saying exactly that.’Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqiim– guide us to the straight path.’ Which straight path? Two billion Muslims, everyone believing that theirs is a straight path. Allah says, ‘No. Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqiim, Sirat al-ladhina an’amta ‘alai-him– only the path of those whom you have favoured. Ghair il-Maghdubi ‘alai-him wa la-d-dallin – not the path of those who have deviated or they’ve pulled your anger.’

Insha’Allah, may we always be following those ones that Allah is pleased with. We are not considering ourselves anything. We are weak servants to Allah (swt). And we have hope that this evil system that is now in this world, the oppression that is weighing heavy on everyone in this world, Muslims and non Muslims but especially coming to the Muslims, this will end. It’s not going to come from down, from this world, it is going to come from up (pointing up to the Heavens). We are asking that Allah send the Sahib ul-Zaman soon to take care of these things. May we be ready for that Insha’Allah. WaminAllahu Taufiq. Al Fateha.
