All praises are due to Allah Who knows the number of the breaths of His creatures by His pre-eternal knowledge. He sees the movements of the feet of ants in the dark night. The birds glorify Him in their nests and wild animals celebrate His glory in the wilderness. He has full knowledge of the actions of His servants, both in secret and public. He guarantees the believers His support and help. Fearful hearts are put at rest by His remembrance and harm is removed. (Delail Khayrat)
And may all peace and blessings be upon our Master Muhammad (asws), the Light of Lights, the Mystery of Mysteries, the Master of the Righteous, the Adornment of the best messengers, the Noblest of whomever the night darkens and the day brightens, and in quantity as great the drops of rain which descend from the first of this world to its end, and in quantity as great as the plants and trees which grow from the first of this world to its end, with a blessing which is constant, lasting as long as the Kingdom of Allah, the One, the Victorious. (Delail Khayrat). Amin.
And may all peace and blessings be upon his noble family and blessed companions, especially upon the Khulafa-e-Rashideen, who Holy Prophet (asws) is praising in his Hadith Sherif, saying: The most merciful of my Ummah towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr; the one who adheres most strongly to the religion of Allah is ‘Umar; the most sincere of them in shyness and modesty is ‘Uthman; the best Judge is Ali. (Ibn Majah 1:159).
Allahumma Barik Lana fi Rajab wa Shaban, wa Ballighna Ramazan.
Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon. O Believers! Welcome to you on this Holy Day of Jummah, which Allah (swt) has preserved and granted to the Ummat-i-Muhammed as a gift over all other nations. Welcome to you on a day that has been called as the Mother of Days by the Rasulallah. Welcome to you on the Day that is the Day of Gathering for the Believers. And welcome to you in this Second Jummah of Rajab. O Believers! The days of Rajab are passing- how are we spending these days and nights? Are we changing, are we becoming better servants, are we planting seeds that we will water in Shaban and harvest in Ramazan, or are we just being lazy and stubborn and refusing to become better?
The days of Rajab are passing, and soon they will have passed us. We should not be amongst those that are going to be burned by the fire of regret later.
And Holy Prophet (asws) is telling us about the greatness of this Month of Allah, saying, ‘ I call it Allah’s month because it is specifically associated with forgiveness, because in it the shedding of blood is brought to a stop, because in this month Allah (swt) relents toward His Prophets, because in it He rescues His Friends from the hands of their enemies, and because anyone who fasts during this month becomes entitled to receive three things from Allah (swt). The first and second of these are forgiveness for all the sins he has previously committed, and unshakeable goodness for the remainder of his life. As for the third, he will be safe from thirst on the Day of the Greatest Judgment.
O Believers! We are in need of the Rahmet and Forgiveness of our Lord, Allah (swt). He is sending us these days so that we can catch up for the wrong things we did before and become better. We should not, we cannot miss this chance.
O Believers! Allah (swt) is saying in the Holy Quran: BismillahirRahmanirRahim. Say: O My servants who have done tyranny to their own souls, do not despair from the Mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. And return to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes to you- then you will not be helped. And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not notice it, so that a soul will not say, “Ah, woe is me, that I neglected my duty toward Allah, and was amongst those who made a mockery.” Or that it should say, “If only Allah had guided me, I certainly would have been among the righteous.” Or that it should say when it sees its punishment, “If only I had another chance, I should certainly be among those who do good!” The reply to them shall be: “No, but there came to you My Signs, and you rejected them. You were arrogant and became one of those that reject faith.” On the Day of Judgment you will see those who told lies against Allah- their faces will be turned black; Isn’t Hell the destination for the arrogant? But Allah will deliver the righteous to their place of salvation. No evil shall touch them, nor shall they grieve. (39:53-61). Sadaqallahul Adzim.
O Believers! For those who have faith in their hearts, these verses should make those hearts to shake. Because Allah (swt) is telling us that He is the Most Merciful and Forgiving, but then telling us to turn to Him before it is too late. And He (swt), who is the Creator of mankind and knows the secret thoughts that are in their hearts, is telling us all of the excuses of the ego and what it will say to try to save itself. When it is too late to be saved, the nafs is going to say, ‘Oh if only Allah had guided. Oh, if only I had another chance, I would be good.’ But Allah (swt) is saying, ‘I sent you My Signs, but you rejected them’ So what is the lesson for us? We have to wake up to our arrogance before it is too late. Because Allah (swt) is saying that hell is the destination for the arrogant. And the attitude that Allah (swt) is describing in these Ayats is the attitude of arrogance. The people who are going to have that regret on the Day of Judgment, they are going to be the ones that used to make a mockery of others, who used to make fun of the Friends of Allah, who used to think that they were better than others.
O Believers! This is a reality that Allah (swt) is describing in the Holy Quran- He is showing us what is going to happen and what the conversation is going to be on the Day of Judgment. And when we hear that conversation, we have a choice. Either we are going to be from those that are going to be regretting on the Day of Judgment, or we are going to be from those in safety. We still have that breath of life now. And while we have that breath of life, we must change.
As our Sheykh, Sahib el-Sayf Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani (ks) is saying: The breath of life is with us right now. If we are using properly, inshallah we will not complain. If we are not using it, then we will be among those who is complaining also. Because once you are entering to that world, there is no way turning back. You cannot say, “Let me do this work now to earn more from Paradises.” Finished. Except, if you left some good deeds behind in this world. If you left some places that is working for the sake of Allah, the reward may reach to you, to your book. If you left some good children, that they are being a good servant to Allah (subhanahu wata’ala) and they are praying for you all the time, your book stays open that way, and you are growing. Otherwise, whatever you did, that’s what you are taking. Inshallahul Rahman, we will not be from those that last minute regret. We must think now correctly. And the Holy Prophet saying to us, “work for this dunya, this world, as much as you are going to live in it. And work for Ahiret as much as you are going to live in it.” So we all know how much we are going to live in it. This dunya. If you don’t know, say some extra, say, “I’m going to live a hundred years,” that much you need. Azrail is waiting every day, he may take that life. Everyday waiting. So that means day by day now, we have to worry.
Not so much to worry to building palaces for one hundred years. No. Those who built the palaces also, they couldn’t live in it correctly. They go out from this world suffering, so many of them. We must look to hold on tightly to our shahadet, to live according to this shahadet, and to go out from this world with this shahadet. If we are taking this shahadet with us, then this shahadet will be [a] friend to us in the grave. It will be [a] friend to us in the Sirat. It will be a friend to us in the Judgment place, it will be [a] friend carrying us in – because it is a very difficult journey we still have [in] front of us. Don’t think that this world’s journey is difficult. This is nothing. We still have to enter to a grave and we have to find ways beyond the grave.
O Believers! This is real. And in this Month of Rajab Shahrullah, we have to put ourselves together and make the intention to become better servants to our Lord, Allah (swt). And as our Sheykh is saying, the Month of Rajab, it is the month of planting. And when we plant, we must prepare the ground, and take all the stones out of the ground. We are trying to plant the seeds inside of our heart. And so we have to take out the stones that our ego and sheytan have put there. We need to take out the arrogance, the stubbornness, the jealousy, the anger, all those evil characteristics that we have allowed to take root in our hearts. And the only way to remove those stones is to submit to our Sheykh. That is the only way. But today’s Muslims don’t believe in Sheykhs anymore, and that’s why they are lost. And those who are believing, they are not following. They are still following with their ego and their own mind. They are saying, ‘I can just study the diseases of the heart, and keep a chart about how I am cleaning myself of them, so I will become clean.’ Or they are saying, ‘there is no such thing as diseases of the heart, we just need to memorize the Quran and Hadith, that’s it.’
And even those inside the Tarikats now are saying, ‘well I am already a saint, so everything the Sheykh is saying about ego doesn’t apply to me, I am already perfect.’ These are the tricks and traps of sheytan that the Muslims of today have fallen into, east and west. May Allah protect us from these traps. And it is because of falling into the hands of sheytan that even in these Holy Months, Muslims are still doing so much cruelty to themselves. The governments are doing cruelty, and the individuals are completely tyrants. Even the mushriks before Islam, they used to respect the holiness of Rajab and not fight in this month. But today, we see that people want to destroy each other, even in this Holy Month. But at the same time, they want to be forgiven by Allah, and at the same time they think that they are the best of the Muslims. But Allah does not show Mercy to those who are cruel. Holy Prophet (asws) is saying,’Verily, Allah is only merciful to His servants who are merciful with others.’ And Hz. Umar al-Faruq (ra) is explaining this more, saying: ‘Whoever does not show mercy will not receive mercy. Whoever does not forgive others will not be forgiven. Whoever does not pardon others will not be pardoned. Whoever does not protect others will not be protected.’
Ya Ayuhal Mu’minoon, the only way to learn to show mercy, to forgive others, to pardon others, to protect others, it is in association. And in this Month of Rajab, we must learn to humble ourselves and sit in association, and learn. We have to say, “I don’t know anything,” and sit down, and learn. Take the advice of our Sheykh, Sahib el-Sayf, who is saying:Do you understand yourself? Have you understood who you are? Have you understood what you are occupying in this world? And what is your power? What is your knowledge? What is your wisdom? If you understand that then you will become humble. If you understand that then you will lower yourself and you will put yourself down saying, “My Lord is watching me twenty-four hours. How will I continue being arrogant stepping on His earth, drinking the water that He is providing for me, eating the foods that He is sending to me and taking the air that He is giving me? So the farther you are away from association the more you may become arrogant and stubborn to bring an end to your own self. That’s what people are really doing. They are bringing an end to themselves. They are bringing trouble to themselves and they are bringing miseries, pains and all kinds of things that Allah has not created man for. But man is giving invitation to himself because man wants to live wrongly and he doesn’t want to live according to the laws of His Lord. He wants to live according to the laws of his ego and ego is the enemy of the Creator. Allah created that one for a reason and He is showing to us that, “This ego that I have created is arrogant and stubborn and it is always disobedient to Me. And I have put that in you in this physical form but I have also put the spirit in too. The spirit is obedient and it wants to go back to his origin.
Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! In this Rajab Shahrullah, let us make intention to learn the obedience, to learn submission, to learn muhabbet from our Sheykh, to become sincere ones and humble ones in the association. Amin.
