How to prepare for Berat?

Question: How to prepare for Berat?

You need to prepare for Mi’raj. Berat it is the night of accounting. Before they take account of yourself, you have to take account. How you were from last Berat to this Berat. What have you done that needs more work? What are the things you are still stuck with? What are the things that you have done and you have made improvement? What are the things that you want to improve more on? Your Iman, you look at your faith. How do you make your faith to become stronger? What is it that makes your faith to become weaker?

This is how you prepare for Berat. Any setbacks,  any shortcoming, you say, ‘astaghfirullah,’ and make intention to become better. Sit quietly. Make some tasbih. Make some tafakkur. Find out. This, you are reading your heart. Look deep into your heart, and understand. And the person who understands, more humble he is going to be. He is not going to become more arrogant and more stubborn. More humble he is going to be. That if someone say something, even if he knows it is not true about himself, he takes it as a warning to himself. He is not going to strike back. You understand?

This is what we do. We sit and we listen to our Sheykh giving us sohbet year after year. Some too smart people they are saying, ‘ahh, they are saying the same thing.’ Alhamdulillah, Haqq must always be the same. May we always repeat the same things. Because there is nothing greater than the kalimah of La Ilaha Ilallah. And for that, there is no beginning, there is no end. And everything that the sohbet is speaking about, must point to La Ilaha Ilallah. So we like it. And for the man who is intelligent, from the small signs, he sees big wisdom coming from that. He doesn’t need to be shown big things. Just a small sign, he knows what it is and he can discover  it for himself. And once you discover, you can claim it. If this whole thing is just unearth for you, to put in front of your face, you may reject it too. But the signs are there and we should not be stubborn. We should take it.

All these days of Rajab, these days of Mi’raj that is coming, leading to the day of Berat, sit down and be sincere. Insya’Allah, that time, you will be alright. Wa minallahu Taufiq, Fatiha. Amin. SelamAleykum warahmatullah.
