jumma mubarak

Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! O Believers! Welcome to you on this Holy Day of Jummah in the Holy Month of Allah, Shahru Rajab. Welcome to you as we have reached the half-way point in this month, the Fifteenth of Rajab. O Believers! Do not forget, this is one of the holiest months of the year that is mentioned by the Holy Prophet (asws) in his Hadith Sherif when he said: O People! Time has gone back to how it was at the time Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. A year has twelve months, four of which are sacred, three consecutive, Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab.

O Believers! This is the Month of Planting. This is the month where what we do determines how the rest of the year will be. According to how we act in these days and nights, we are going to see that kind of fruit appearing in the Month of Ramazan. And that harvest of Ramazan, it is going to last us for the whole year. So insya’Allah, we must make the intention to plant good things. If we are following our ego and sheytan in this month, then our harvest is going to be the ugly fruits of ego and sheytan when Ramazan comes. And our fast will be nothing but hunger and thirst. But if we are listening to our Sheykh, if we are taking the Sohbet and applying it to our lives, if we are fighting to our egos, then we are going to harvest the sweet, beautiful fruits in the month of Ramazan, and we are going to benefit from them for the rest of the year.

O Believers! Allah (swt) is saying in the Holy Quran: BismillahirRahmanirRahim. (O Muhammad). Remind, if the reminder should benefit; He who fears Allah will be reminded. But the wretched one will avoid it- the one who will be flung into the Great Fire, in which they will neither live nor die. The successful one is the one who purifies himself (from his ego), and remembers the name of his Lord, and prays. But you prefer the life of this world, even though the Hereafter is better and more lasting. (87:9-17). Sadaqallahul Adzim.

These ayats, they are a big reminder to us from our Lord, Allah Almighty. That this dunya is a temporary place. And He is reminding us that Ahiret, it is better for the believers. And He is reminding us that the only success in this worldly life, it is the success of purifying ourselves from the evil of our ego. So we can take the reminder, or we can ignore it. Allah (swt) is telling us already that those who ignore this warning, they have a heavy punishment. And the only ones who will take the warning are those who fear Allah. We should take this warning that is coming to us from the Lord of Heaven. He is also reminding us that the successful ones is the one who purify himself. That purification, it is more important than to remember the name of our Lord. It takes precedence.  But the question is, how are we going to purify ourselves in this life? and how do we fight to our ego in this life? How do we get ready for that everlasting Ahiret while we are in this world? And the way that we learn how to be successful, the only way that we learn how to be successful in the Sight of Allah, it is by following the Way of Rasulallah (asws). Because Allah (swt) is saying in the Holy Quran: BismillahirRahmanirRahim. Indeed, you have a beautiful example in the Messenger of Allah, for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who makes much Zikr of Allah. (33:21). Sadaqallahul Adzim

The best example of how to apply the words of Allah (swt) into our life, it is coming from the Holy Prophet (asws). We have to look at his life to see how we must live in this dunya. The Holy Prophet (asws) is saying to us in his Hadith Sherif, ‘The smart person is the one who takes control of his ego and acts for what comes after death; and the foolish person is the one who simply follows his desires and then has false hopes with Allah.’ And in another Hadith, he (asws) is saying, ‘This world is cursed and what is in it is cursed, except for the Zikr of Allah Almighty and what brings one near to Him and the one who teaches and the one who learns.’

O Believers! The reality of these Hadith is showing us that the intelligent way to live in this dunya is to fight against to our ego. And it is showing us that the only way to fight against to our ego, it is to learn from a teacher. You cannot teach yourself. Because when you are learning from a teacher, you are not falling into the curse of this dunya. And when you are learning from a teacher, you are not considered the foolish person who is following his own desires, because you are putting your desires aside, and you are following the words of your teacher.

So the question comes, what is the teacher that the Holy Prophet (asws) is talking about? If we ask today, people will say, the scholars of the outward knowledge. The scholars who are teaching in hotel ballrooms, where the students have to pay hundreds of dollars just to sit with them. The scholars who are sitting on stages with tyrants who have the blood of believers on their hands, and praying for the long life of the tyrant. The scholars who changes his clothes as much and as fast as he change his aqidah. The scholars who have sold their knowledge for gain in this dunya. Those are not the teachers that Holy Prophet (asws) is mentioning in his Hadith Sherif. These scholars of today have been mentioned, yes, in a different Hadith when Holy Prophet (asws) said, ‘Soon a time would come upon people when nothing will remain of Quran except its script, and nothing of Islam will remain except its name, they will divide and will be farthest from it. Their masjids will be decorated but empty of guidance. The scholars of that age will be the worst people under the heavens. Fitnah will come from them and return to them. And the words of the Prophet, they are true. So these are the scholars of today, not the teachers mentioned by Holy Prophet (asws) as the ones who are free from the curse of dunya.

Who are the real teachers? Who are those ones from whom the Muslims for 1400 years looked to for guidance, those ones who teach people how to fight against to the ego and return to Allah (swt)? Who are the teachers that Holy Prophet (asws) said about them, that Allah, His angels, the dwellers of the heaven and the earth, and even the ant in its hole and the fish (in water) make dua for those who teach people knowledge. The Holy Prophet (asws) gave us the answer 1400 years ago. He was sitting with the people and he said, “O people! Listen to this, understand it, and know it. Allah has servants who are neither Prophets nor martyrs and whom the Prophets and martyrs wish to be like them, because of their position and closeness in relation to Allah.”

One of the Bedouin Arabs who came from among the most isolated of people twisted his hand at the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! People from humankind who are neither Prophets nor martyrs and yet the Prophet’s and the martyrs wish to be like, due to their position and closeness in relation to Allah?! Describe them to us!’

The Holy Prophet’s face showed delight at the Bedouin’s question and he said, ‘They are of the strangers from this and that place. They frequent this or that tribe without belonging to them. They do not have family connections among themselves. They love one another for Allah’s sake. They are of pure intent towards one another. On the Day of Resurrection Allah will place for them pedestals of light upon which He will make them sit, and He will turn their faces and clothes into light. On the Day of Resurrection the people will be terrified but not those. They are the Evliyaullah upon whom fear comes not, nor do they grieve.evliyaullah

If we want to be free from the curse of Allah in this dunya, we must be in association. We must be with the Friends of Allah, those teachers that Holy Prophet (asws) was describing. Because when we sit with them, we remember Allah. When we sit with them, we gain the ammunition to fight to our ego and to sheytan. And because they are beloved by Allah and His Prophet, when we sit with them, we will be in protection and safety. As our Sheykh, Sahib el-Sayf Sheykh Abdulkerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani (ks) is saying: That’s what Allah is saying to us, `Be with the Siddiks, the Saliheen, with the righteous people. Be with them’. Have you been with them? Being with them is sitting and listening, asking, learning, moving. He is not saying to you, `Be one of them’. He is saying to us, `Be with them’. Being with them, slowly one day maybe something will pass to you and you will become one of them. If it’s not, in the Judgment Day you go saying, ‘I was with this Salih, I was with this righteous one, I was with this Awliya, I was with this Sheykh’. And Sheykh  Efendi is saying that those who are with the Evliyaullah in this life, Allah (swt) will say to them,’What good friends you have now.’

O Believers! A reminder to me and to you. Never forget. This dunya is not our home. And if we want to return to our real home with honor, then we must sit with the people of honor. And in order to pass through this life with safety, we must sit with those who can teach us what pleases Allah and His Prophet. Elhamdulillah, we have been granted the greatest honor to be from the Association of one of the most Beloved Friends of Allah, in this ahir zaman, Sahib el-Sayf Sheykh Abdulkerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani, the one who saved us from the darkness of dunya and is showing us the Way to Ahiret. O Believers! In this month of Rajab, plant the seeds of obedience, submission, and muhabbet to your Sheykh. Insha’AllahurRahman, that time, when we reach to Ahiret we will hear our Lord say to us, ‘What good friends you have now.’ Amin.
