Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alamin. Wasalatu wa salamu ala rasulina Muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajmain nahmadulllahu ta’ala wa nastaghfiruhu wa nashadu an-lailaha ilallahu wahdahu la sharika lah wa nashadu anna sayyidina Muhammadin abduhu wa habibuhu wa rasuluhu salallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa azwajihi wa ashabihi wa atbaihi.
Khulafail Rashidin mahdin min ba’di wuzerail immeti alal tahkik. Khususan minhum alal amidi khulafai rasulillahi ala tahqeeq. Umara il mu’mineen. Hazreti abu bakr wa umar wa uthman wa ali. Wa ala baqiyati wa sahabai wa tabieen, ridwanallahu ta’ala alayhim ajmain.Ya ayyuhal mu’minun al hadirun, ittaqullaha ta’ala wa ati’uh. Inna allaha ma allathina-ttaqaw wal-lathina hum muhsinun.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La ilaha il-Allahu Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa lillahil Hamd.
Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk. Labbayka la sharika laka labbayk. Innal hamda wa ni’mata laka wal mulk. La sharika lak.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen. Wa Salatu wa Salamu ala Ashrafil Ambiya’i wa Imam al-Mursaleen Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajmain.
All praises are due to Allah, Lord of the Universes. O best Protector! O Best Helper! Forgive us, our Lord! The ultimate end is to You. There is no power nor strength except by Allah, the High, the Immense. Glory be to You! We cannot number Your praises as You praise Yourself. Your Face is Majestic and Your Honor exalted. Allah does whatever He wishes by His power and judges what He wills by His might. (Delail Khayrat).
And may all peace and blessings be upon the Sultan of Creation, the Imam of the Prophets, the Honor of the Universes, the Intercessor of the Day of Judgment, the Possessor of the Banner of Praise, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammad (asws). Ya Allah grant me to be from among those who stick close to the way of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad, the blessings of Allah be always upon him. Strengthen his holiness, empower his words, protect his promise and security, and give victory to his Jemaat and calling and increase those who pledge him and his company allegiance. And grant that we may die in his company and do not allow us to stray from his path and way. O Allah, I ask You for loyalty to his way and seek refuge in You from all deviation from it. (Delail Khayrat).
And may peace and blessings be upon the Noble Family and Blessed Companions of RasulAllah (asws), especially upon the Four Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Hz. Siddiq al-Akbar, Hz. Faruk al-Azam, Hz. Zul Nurayn, and Hz. Shah-e-Mardan, and all those who follow them until the Last Day.
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! Eid al-Adha Mubarek. Kurban Bayramıniz Mubarek olsun. We are asking our Lord, Allah swt, to forgive us in this day. We are asking Him to accept our intention to walk on the Straight Path, the Path of the Holy Prophet (asws), of his companions, and of the Evliyaullah. We are asking for strength and firmness to hold on to the Shahadet in this Ahir Zaman, and to live according to that Shahadat.
O Believers! Today is the Day of Kurban, the Day of Sacrifice. Today is the Day we remember our Father Hz. Ibrahim (a.s.), and his son Hz Ismail (a.s.). Today is the Day that we imitate the sacrifice that they made. In this day, we should call out to our Lord, as the believers have called out for 1400 years as they visit the Baytullah, saying, ‘Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, La ilaha ilAllahu Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa Lillahil Hamd. Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk. Labbayka la sharika laka labbayk. Innal hamda wa ni’mata laka wal mulk. La sharika lak. Here I am, O my Lord, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. All the praise, all the blessing, it is Yours, as is the Kingdom. There is no partner to you.’
This is the remembrance of a servant. This is the Zikr of a servant. This is the calling of the one who has submitted himself completely to his Lord, and is ready to receive the command and to obey it. And the way that we show our obedience to our Lord, Allah swt on this Day, it is to cut the Kurban. Today is the day that we sacrifice the life of that sheep, of that animal as a symbol of our readiness to sacrifice ourselves and that which we love in the Way of Allah and His Prophet. That is why the Kurban is one of the most beloved actions a servant can do to his Lord. Rasulullah (asws) is saying in his Hadith Sherif, ‘There is no dearer action of the Sons of Adam in the days of Kurban than the spilling of the animal’s blood. That animal will come with his horns, hairs, and hooves on the day of Judgment. The blood of the Kurban reaches the stage of acceptance before it touches the floor.’
Making the Kurban is so important that Holy Prophet (asws) is warning to his Ummat, saying, ‘the one who has the ability to do so and he does not cut the Kurban, he should not approach our Eidgah (place of Eid Namaz).’
Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! The Kurban is a symbol of the readiness of the Servant to sacrifice for his Lord. Just as Hz. Ismail was ready to be sacrificed to his Lord. Just as Hz. Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his most beloved son to his Lord. That is not a story. This is not a fairy-tale. That is the action of our grandfathers, and we must wake that spirit up inside of ourselves. As our Sheykh, SahibulSaif Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani (qs) is saying to us, ‘So first you have to become Ismail. Then you have to become Ibrahim, to sacrifice. One, he sacrificed his self to Allah and the other one sacrificed his son to Allah.’ Two different secrets there. We have to be ready not just to sacrifice ourselves, but to sacrifice everything we love in the Way of Allah and His Prophet.
If we talk about sacrifice today, the whole world thinks that we have become crazy. Because this is Ahir Zaman, and the world has gone into a second Jahiliyya. This is the age when white is called black and black is called white. Look at the world today. We are not living in a time of sacrifice. We are living in a time when the dark clouds of greed and selfishness it has covered the whole world. In the Muslim world and the non-Muslim world. In the Muslim world we are seeing that those who have power and wealth, they have abandoned those who are weak. The little children who are hiding in the dark from bombs and fire raining down on them are crying out for help, but those who have the ability to help, they are busy building themselves palaces and wasting. While the blood of the Ummat is being spilled without any care, those who call themselves Ulema, they sit with the killers who are holding the bloody knife.
And the non-Muslim world? The racism and bigotry was hiding for a long time. Now it has been released like a wild dog. People have become free to show their hatred and to express it through violence. In this country, which prides itself on its constitution and the rule of law, we see that the laws and constitution are being used to systematically oppress and brutalize the weakest members of society.
So in this day of Kurban, this is the condition of the world. For, the believer, where can he turn? The rulers have become oppressors. The scholars have become the helpers of the oppressors. Even the so-called “Sufi Shaykhs” are visiting the tyrants and smiling and taking selfies with them.
What happened to the Ummat that made the Muslims fall into this lowest of stations? They lost the spirit of sacrifice. They forgot that the Sirat al-Mustaqim has been paved with the sacrifices of those who came before us. And when people said, ‘no we don’t want to sacrifice anymore,’ then the disaster fell on us.
The Pleasure of Allah swt is earned through sacrifice. And those who came before us, they paid that price. The Sahaba-e-Kiram, the best of creation after the Prophets, they paid that price. And because they paid that price, Allah swt honored them and granted them a Heybet that shook the world from East to West.
O Believers! How did our examples, the Sahaba-e-Kiram, sacrifice so that Allah swt honored them? They made themselves Kurban for the Holy Prophet (asws). Just like one Sahabi, Hz. Khubayb ibn Adiyy that he was taken captive by the enemies of Islam. When they were taking him to be executed, they asked him if he had any request. He said, ‘Let me pray two rakats of namaz, because it is time for me to leave this dunya and meet my Lord.’
After he prayed he looked at them and said, ‘If you weren’t going to think I was afraid of dying, I would have prayed more.’ They then took him to the place of execution and tied him up. Hz. Khubayb looked to the heavens and said, ‘Ya Allah! I do not have anyone to send my Salaams to Your Messenger, so please, You send my Salaams to him.’ And at that moment, Allah swt sent Jibreel (a.s.) to give the Salams of Hz. Khubayb directly to the Holy Prophet (asws). And Holy Prophet (asws) said, ‘Wa Aleykum salaam, ya Khubayb!’ And he informed his companions, ‘Your brother Khubayb has been martyred by the Quraysh.’
Forty men from the unbelievers drove their spears through Hz. Khubayb at the same time. And at that moment they said to him, ‘Say that you would rather want Muhammad in your place, and we swear we will let you go.’ What was the answer of Hz. Khubayb? He said, ‘Wallahi, I would not want to be safe and secure among my family while even a thorn hurts Muhammad (asws).’
This is the spirit of sacrifice that this Ummat had for 1400 years. And that is the spirit of sacrifice that reached to our Grandfathers, the Glorious Ottomans. That when the rest of the Ummat forgot about their Khalifa, the Mehmetciks, the little Muhammads, they were standing in Canakkale to protect the Sultan and the Nation of Muhammad (asws).
The whole nation at that time walked in the footsteps of Hz. Ibrahim and Hz. Ismail (a.s.). The children, like Hz. Ismail, gave up their lives to sacrifice for the nation, for Islam. And the parents, like Hz. Ibrahim, sacrificed their children to Allah for the sake of the Khalifa. The whole nation sent their children to Canakkale to stop the unbelievers from approaching, to stop the unbelievers whose goal was to destroy the Khilafat. And it was because of that spirit that Allah swt honored the Ottomans.
O Believers! In this Kurban day, we must check ourselves to see if we have that spirit in our heart. As our Sheykh is teaching us saying, ‘When we are sitting, thinking, concentrating and trying to understand what had happened and how those people gave their lives, if we are not finding in our hearts to be able to say, ‘If I was in that situation, I would also be able to sacrifice my life’, check your faith again. With that faith you cannot reach anywhere.’ You need that kind of faith to pass Sirat, the bridge. If you understand what it is to sacrifice your life for Allah, for the His Prophet (asws) and for His Religion. If we are not finding that in our own hearts then we must check ourselves and we must work on ourselves to be able to understand what is it to sacrifice for Islam.
O Believers! This is the reality of the life of this world. If we sacrifice and return our life to Allah swt, then we are the winners, because Allah swt is going to return it with a real life. But if we are selfish, then we are going to lose this life and the next. So in this Kurban day, when we are seeing the animal walking to the place where it is going to die, when we are seeing it submit when the knife crosses its throat, when we see its blood spill out and its body stops moving, we should not look at it emptily or in ghaflat. We must look at that animal and ask ourselves, ‘am I ready to become a Kurban for my Lord? Am I ready to become a Kurban for my Prophet? Am I ready to become a Kurban for my Sheykh?’
That is the true purpose of this day of Kurban. And that is where the heart must be. Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi (qs) is saying, ‘Say Bismillah, in the name of Allah, like the Sheykh does with the knife when he offers an animal. Bismillah your old self to find your true identity.’
So for believers who are thinking today is a day of checking ourselves and seeing if we are ready to walk in the footsteps of our Hz. Ibrahim and Hz. Ismail, of the Holy Prophet (asws) and his companions, of the Evliyaullah, and of our Ottoman grandfathers. We are not saying for people to go out to fight a war, no. We are saying for people to be prepared to sacrifice in the bigger jihad. As our Grandsheykh, Sheykh Mevlana Muhammad Nazim Adil el-Hakkani (qs) is saying, because the sacrifice in Islam, it is not just to slaughter an animal. It is to sacrifice what you love most for Allah. As our Grandsheykh, Sheykh Mevlana Muhammad Nazim Adil el-Hakkani (qs) is saying, ‘Whoever wants to be with Allah must pay. The price you pay when you come to this Dergah is your ego. Your ego fights you. You have to push it and pull it to bring it here. Your ego would never come by itself. Wherever you go, you have to pay.’
You will not find the same price everywhere. Some places are very cheap and some very expensive. Whoever wants to be with Allah must pay. He doesn’t ask for money or gold or jewels. He wants a sacrifice. Make a sacrifice and come! What kind of sacrifice? A camel? Or a sheep or a cow? Or a goat or a rooster? He doesn’t need sacrifices like that. No. He wants your ego to be sacrificed. When you have given your sacrifice, you may be with Allah. As long as you are with your ego, you cannot be with Allah.
So if we are prepared to walk the footsteps of the Holy Ones who came before us, we must sacrifice the ego. If we are staying with our ego, then we cannot claim to be walking the Way of Truth.
The words we are speaking, they have become strange today. They have become strange in this End of Times where Muslims are running after the dunya. They have become strange when everyone is not looking at how they can sacrifice their egos, but how they can serve their egos. They have become strange in an age when the whole world is running into the traps of the dejjal.
But being from the strangers, that is a good news for us. Because the Holy Prophet (asws) sent good news for the strangers. As our Sheykh is informing us, saying that Rasulullah (asws) said, ‘Islam began strange and it’s going to end strange. Blessings and protection to the strangers, especially those who are going to come in the Ahir Zaman, in the End of Times.’ That news is for the people who are living now, because we are in the second Jahiliyya time and we are almost at the end of that Jahiliyya too. The good news is that the Protector is waiting to appear insha’Allah ar-Rahman. We must be looking forward to that. Are we ready for that? Are we ready to leave our mothers? Are we ready to leave our fathers? Are we ready to leave our wives? Or are we ready to leave our husbands? Are we ready to leave our children? You must search in yourself. You must look into yourself because Holy Prophet (asws) is saying:
‘Those who are going to reach to those days, when entering through that door, a difficult test is going to be waiting for them too.’ The Sahaba e-Kiram have been tested. They have been tested with their lives and with everything that they had. They have been tested and they passed. And Allah is warning us, saying to us, ‘Do you think that you are going to enter into the same paradises with those without going through the same tests that they went through?’ Do you think so? Think again.
O Believers. This is the reality that is in front of us. We must prepare ourselves for that test. And the only way, the only way to do that, is to have full submission, obedience, and muhabbet to our Guide. That is the path to Allah that has been walked by every Sahabi, by every Saint. In this Kurban Day, let us renew our intention to walk on that road, in this life and the next.
In this Day of Kurban, in this Day that the Hajj is being completed, we are asking our Lord Allah swt for His Mercy. Ya Rabbi, we are asking for your Forgiveness. We are asking to be from those who are making the real Kurban. We are asking to be from those that are ready to sacrifice everything in the Way of Allah. We are asking to be from those that are ready to sacrifice everything in the Way of our Sheykh. In this Holy Day, we are asking for an end to tyranny and tyrannical systems, and to not be counted from amongst the tyrants. We are asking an end to the dejjaliyet that has darkened the whole world. We are asking for the return of our Ottoman Sultan, of the Khalifa. We are asking for Mehdi (a.s.), and we are asking to be from his servants. We are asking to be under the Medet and Himmet of our Sheykh in this life and the next. Ya Rabbi, in this Holy Day, accept our dua. Amin.
