All praises are due to Allah Who knows the number of the breaths of His creatures by His pre-eternal knowledge. He sees the movements of the feet of ants in the dark night. The birds glorify Him in their nests and wild animals celebrate His glory in the wilderness. He has full knowledge of the actions of His servant, both in secret and public. He guarantees the believers His support and help. Fearful hearts are put at rest by His Zikr and harm is removed. (Delail Khayrat).
And may all peace and blessings be upon the Speaker to the nations, the Symbol of Guidance, the Remover of Sorrow, the Raiser of Ranks, the Master of the Two Worlds, Sayyidina Muhammad (asws) (Delail Khayrat). And upon his noble family and blessed companions, especially upon the Four Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Hz. Abu Bakr el-Siddiq, Hz. Umar el-Faruq, Hz. Osman el-Ghani, and Hz. Ali el-Murtaza, and all those who follow them until the Last Day.
O Believers! Welcome to you in this Holy Day of Jummah, in this Month of Safar al-Khayr. O Believers! We must believe in Allah. Yes, believers have to believe. Because Allah (swt) is saying in the Holy Quran, in Surah al-Nisa: BismillahirRahmanirRahim. O you who believe, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray. Sadaqallahul Adzim (4:136).
And Hz. Ibn Abbas (ra) is reporting that one day he was riding his steed behind Holy Prophet (asws), when Holy Prophet (asws) turned around and told him, ‘Young man, I will teach you some words. Be mindful of Allah, and He will take care of you. Be mindful of Him, and you shall find Him at your side. If you ask, ask of Allah. If you need help, seek it from Allah. Know that if the whole world were to gather together in order to help you, they would not be able to help you except if Allah had written so. And if the whole world were to gather together in order to harm you, they would not harm you except if Allah had written so. The pens have been lifted, and the pages are dry.
O Believers! We must have Trust in our Lord, Allah (swt). And we must know that whatever is happening to us, that is coming to us from our Lord. Isn’t this one of the six principles of Iman? That I believe in the Qadr, that the good and the bad, comes to me from Allah.
So we have to know that whatever is happening to us, it is coming from Allah. As our Sheykh, Sahib el-Sayf Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi el-Rabbani (ks) is saying: We are not appreciating anything and we are not understanding anything. This oxygen that we are taking instantly, if it comes to you only 1% more than what is coming now, it burns you as soon as you inhale it. It burns everything inside. Are you the one who is giving that to your own self? Who is controlling this? For centuries, they say billions of years, for billions of years who is controlling this? For billions of years who is controlling that sun not to come one inch closer to this world? If that sun comes one inch closer or if this world goes one inch closer to the sun, it would be burned completely. If it goes one inch far away from its own orbit where it’s turning, circling around, everything will be frozen. Who has the control of all this? We must think. That’s what intelligence is for. We cannot think if we put our heads inside the hole. We have to come out. We have to look. We have to see who we are and what we are.
But for today, the whole world, they are believing that the power is coming from everything other than Allah. They are believing that whatever is happening in the environment, in the skies and the galaxies, that it is just happening through nature. They believe that whatever happens to them in their daily lives, it is coming to them from the people, whether it is their boss or their husband or their wife. And they think that whatever is happening in terms of worldly power, it is happening through governmental systems and through politics. They have totally taken their Lord Allah (swt) out from the equation.
We are living in the United States of America. And this country just had its election. And in that election, more than half of the people, they chose the president. They chose someone who said the most racist, xenophobic, bigoted things that anybody heard. And now everybody is so scared. Muslims are so scared, thinking, oh, he is going to put us into internment camps. He is going to put us into a registry. He is going to kick us out of the country. And now they are thinking, oh, we must organize. We must become even more involved in politics. We must go out and make societies and associations. And if we do that, then we can win in the next election.
The Muslims in this country, they completely separated themselves from Allah. Because they left their belief in Allah, and we adopted a belief in democracy. We totally bought into the system and we said, yes, we are real Americans. In fact, Muslims Americans, we are claiming to be the best Muslims. Muslim American look down on other Muslims who is living in other country. Because we put our faith in this system. Because we put our faith in the constitution. We put our faith in the congress. We put our faith in the supreme court. Yes, we put our faith in the presidency. And now they are harvesting what we have sown. As our Sheykh used to say, if you plant wind, you are going to harvest a tornado. And if you were to come to these same Muslims who say, we believe in democracy, and said to them, what about the systerm of Allah. They say, ‘what system of Allah?’ We say, ‘the Khilafat.’ What about Sultanate? They would say, ‘please brother, these are systems that lead to tyranny and oppression. These are old, outdated systems of governing. Democracy is the best because it protects human rights- Shariat doesn’t do that.’ Hasha astaghfirullah. Muslims are saying that.
So what happened today? What happened is that democracy showed us its real face. It showed the face that the Evliya have been warning us about. Seyh Efendi said: Democracy is hypocrisy. Whatever fits to them that’s what they are going to speak. It’s not that they have any basic beliefs and they are running after that. Whatever the crowd of people want and whatever votes they are going to get from them, this is what they are going to speak to them. That’s what’s happening today. They are running after votes. If it’s necessary to buy the votes with money, they pay money. If it’s necessary to buy the votes through their leader then they buy the leader. If it’s necessary to fool the community then this is what they are going to do. If it’s necessary to promise things to them even though they are never going to deliver those things, they promise. This is the democracy of today.
So that is what we are living in. And now, what has happened, it should make people to wake up to understand that no, we should not put our faith in democracy. We should put our faith in Allah. We should put our faith and our Trust in Allah. We should work for Allah. And now is the time that separation is happening. Half the people in this country, they want a society filled with hate and racism. Half of the people, claiming they are good, and claiming that they want to live in a society of justice. And this is what is happening all across the world. Any country you are looking, the same separation is happening. And that separation, it is one of the big signs of the coming of Mehdi (as).
Our Sheykh is telling us what to do in this time of separation. He is saying: Those who are looking for safety must turn back to their Lord, must run back to Allah and His Prophet (asws). If anyone is looking for safety then they must run, they must look and they must try to understand what Holy Prophet (asws) said. They must take those words, kiss them and put them on top of their heads. Then safety will reach to them. If they are not doing that then don’t have sympathy in your heart for them. If they are not doing that, then don’t have sympathy in your heart for them. Allah will count you among them. Either we are with Allah or we are not. Allah is in charge. He is in charge. And those people who made these evil things in this world are going to pay a price. Don’t interfere. Pull yourself away. When the Azan is calling run to your Sajjada. Pray two rakats extra saying, “Ya Rabbi! I am asking forgiveness for those beloved ones that I have. Turn their hearts away ya Rabbi.” That’s the only thing you can do. Nothing else. If there were something else to be done then Holy Prophet (asws) would have told us. He told us not to interfere when that time comes. No one is going to be able to change that reality until one person appears. He said, “One person from my lineage will come.” Mehdi (as) is the one who will change everything. Until he comes don’t interfere. Just try to keep your faith strong and stay in Sirat-ul Mustaqim. Don’t think that the power is in their hands. Allah (swt) is just making them to punish each other.
So that is the advice that we have for this time. Coming from one of the biggest Saint, not only of this century, of the ahir zaman, but of all times. And that is the advice that we are going to try our best to live according to. O Believers! Murids! We must make endless shukr that we have been blessed with a Guide who is seeing the Road ahead, and is walking that road behind his Sheykh, who is walking behind his Sheykh, all the way to the Holy Prophet (asws).
Today, it is the Mevlid of our Sheykh. Our Sheykh came into this world 59 years ago. He was born in a small village in Cyprus, a small country. But from that small village, in that small country, he came and he shook the whole world. He came and he shook the world because he stood up for Hakk. He came and he shook the world because he stood against Batil. He came and he shook the world because he had a sincere belief to Allah, to His Prophet, to his Sheykh, and he never wavered from that. As Sheykh Mevlana said, his heart was full of faith and he was a believer, a son of ours dressed with the attribute of a lion; one who rejected and did not accept whatever is done against Islam.
Today, we are remembering him. Every day, we must be remembering him. Not to cry and hit ourselves and be sad that he is veiled. No. We must remember him to remember his mission. Because his mission is to bring an end to kufr and tyranny. His mission is to bring an end to dejjaliyet. His mission is to do the work of Mehdi (as). As Seyh Efendi said, I speak for Allah’s sake. I don’t fear from anyone. I fear only from Allah. And I fear from Allah out of love for Him. I am living for Allah.
O Believers! If you want to live like that, then follow his way. That time, you will be honoring his life. And you will be preparing for his return.
