What does the Sheykh mean when he says that he holds the key to the Murid’s secret?

Question: What does the Sheykh mean when he says that he holds the key to the Murid’s secret?

We speak from our Sheykh. The one who holds all the secrets in the world, I’m not talking about Allah, of course He holds everything. The one He has given the secrets to, all the worlds and everything hidden and open, in this world or in the countless other worlds, dunya and Akhirat. Who has He given all the secrets to? The Holy Prophet (asws). He is the Sultan of knowledge. He is the Sultan of the hidden and the Sultan of things that are open. He is the Possessor of all the secrets.

What does that mean, that he is the Possessor of all the Secrets? The highest knowledge is the knowledge to know Allah SWT. So anyone who wants to know Allah SWT, which is our right, which is the reason of our creation, we can only do that, to know that from taking from the endless treasures of the Holy Prophet (asws). If we’re taking from anything else or anyone else, we’re going to fall far behind. It is not enough. Which Holy Prophet (asws) came to complete the religion. The religion began Prophet Adam (a.s) it continued through 124,000 Prophets, but the religion, the same religion, it completed, it reached its fullness with the Holy Prophet (asws) and he holds the keys.

So now the Divine Protocol is, for you to reach the knowledge that you must have in order to know your Lord, which is the reason of your creation, you have to reach to the Holy Prophet (asws). But the Divine Protocol is, the Prophet (asws) will appoint his successors, his inheritors. They are the ones who are going to hold this and they are the ones that us Murids, all of us that we have to go to. That knowledge it is subtle. That knowledge is not something that they can write in a book and give it to you and you learn and you understand. That knowledge comes from you understanding and knowing yourself. And the knowledge of knowing yourself, you cannot learn that by yourself. The knowledge of knowing has to come from a guide. So as much as you are submitting to the guide as much as you are learning and you are taking, that much more the guide will open you to yourself. When he opens that, you to yourself, more you understand your reality, then he may give whatever that is necessary for you to know Allah because the one who knows himself he knows Allah SWT.

You are sitting but you are not giving yourself, you are not submitting to the guide. You may be sitting for fifty years, you will not be able to make five steps ahead. But that knowledge, that key for you to know yourself, to know yourself as where you are in relationship to your Lord, they are not keeping it for themselves, they have no need for it. It is for you. So the one who wastes himself by not looking after this knowledge, by not finding this knowledge, he is not going to have a good life in this world, he is not going to have a good life in the hereafter. Especially not in the hereafter. In this world he may escape a little bit, in the hereafter they’re going to say, you know when you travel from country to country, they’re just going to say ‘where is your visa?’ They don’t care if you’re rich or you’re poor. They don’t care how connected you are. They don’t care whether you’re white or you’re black, they say ‘where is the visa?’ because the visa means what? The stamp means that you are given authority. That is proof that you have the authority and you have the clearance.

So if you’re not learning this, you have no clearance. Ohh,  they say ‘then wait over there. You didn’t clear when you were on the face of the earth, now we are going to clear you when you are underground. Easy way was there. Now it is the hard way.’ But you have to get clearance because you cannot get stuck because our return is to Allah. Now it is the hard way. Now they’re going to put you in the waiting room. Maybe they’re going to send you back, you have to try all over again to do things, then they will give it to you. Us following a Sheykh now, we are asking him to give us that visa, that clearance. The submission, it is important. It is only in submission that you will know yourself. If you don’t submit, you’re still putting your ego there, it is impossible.

May Allah make it easy for us, insya’Allah ar-Rahman, may we be given the key for our return. Our return, it is back to our Sheykh, back to the Holy Prophet (asws). Understanding that protocol just by itself it is mari‘fat enough in these days, because everyone is saying ‘we return directly to Allah swt.’ Insya’Allah, may Allah forgive us, may Allah bless our Sheykh and our Grandsheykh, raise them to higher and higher stations, and we are asking for their intercession, to forgive us, to keep us in safety, to make us to become stronger, to make us to become more clear, and for us to be able to reach out to others who are sincere. Wa min Allahu Taufiq, al Fatiha. Amin. Selam Aleykum wa Rahmatullah. This much is enough.
