How To Prepare For The Grave?

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

Question : How to prepare for the grave?

How you want your grave to be, that’s how you want to prepare it. The grave it is a waiting room to your final destination. Our Sheykh is saying, ‘send something to your grave everyday.’ What do you want to send to your grave? Don’t send snakes and scorpions, wrong deeds, wrong actions, wrong intentions. Send the jewels and send all the precious stones there. It is needed there. How are you going to do that?

When you are understanding that the sheytan and your  ego is trying to trick you and you are stepping on them, you are fighting against them, then you are sending very precious things to your grave. Now, don’t try to imagine the grave too much. Some people they cannot handle that. But you must also understand that that grave is a place where you can feel everything but you cannot move and do as you like. That is why in our zikr, whether it’s the silent zikr or the loud zikr, the more that you are putting discipline into your body, not just letting it to move anywhere it wants, anytime it wants, scratching here, moving here, looking around here, going to sleep, you are putting some discipline in the remembrance of Allah, then you are preparing your body for that grave. Your legs are killing you because it is all very tight, but you are going to say to your body, ‘whole day you move and you sit and you stand, and you do anything as you like, now you are going to listen to me. I’m going to tell you how to move for the sake of Allah.’ Don’t worry, no one has ever lost their legs sitting on the floor on their knees before. So many people they get better. Do you understand?

So, having the discipline there it is important too.  Because you enter into seclusion too, it’s not as you want. That’s why in the old days, they are growing the beard long, they are growing their hair long, shaving everywhere, just taking one part of the thing and tying it up, tying it up to the ceiling, sitting down like this, so that when your head is falling down, you are sleeping, it will pull, and you are awake again. You are doing it. Even Firaun understood that, that when he was praying to Allah, so that he will win in that contest against Musa (as), the next day he went inside his room and he tied his beard to the room, tying to the ceiling, and whole night he was praying to Allah. He was Firaun. But whole night he was praying to Allah saying, ‘Ya Rabbi, do not make me to look like an idiot in front of my people. I know that I am, You are Lord. I am your weak servant, but don’t make me to lose my honor in front of my people.’ And because of that, Allah gave him victory on that day. That Musa (as), he just prayed and he went to sleep. Musa (as) was very upset with Allah the next day, saying, ‘why are You doing this? Why are You allowing this to happen?’ and Allah is saying, ‘I am the most just. Whole night Firaun was praying to me, he was asking for forgiveness and he knows that he is wrong, but whole night he was begging me not to let him to lose. You, you just went to sleep.’

So Allah SWT, He is most fair. Important thing is we must declare our weakness. When we declare Allah’s greatness, we have to understand our weakness. What is so wonderful, what is so great, what is so good about declaring Allah’s greatness if we think that we are great ourselves? You understand? So many people they say, ‘Allahu Akhbar’ but in reality they say ‘Anahu Akhbar.’ They say, ‘I am the greatest.’ So for us to understand our weakness in this month of Ramazan, more we are preparing for the grave, more that grave will be a better waiting point for us before we enter into our real destination. Insya’Allah. SelamAleykum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatu.
