Question: How can a murid collect the fruit of Ramazan and Maintain for whole year?
Whatever that you are practicing in the month of Ramazan, don’t drop it. Don’t drop it.What is it that we are doing in the month of Ramazan? Everybody knows. We fasted. Which is why it is a very big sunnat to fast for six days in the month of Shawwal, and if you do that, it is as if you have fasted for the whole year. Which means there’s big reward in that too. What else you do? You pray Tahajjud. Don’t drop it. What else you do? You read Quran. Don’t drop it. You make more zikr. Don’t drop it. You are going to tell yourself, at least I’m going to try to maintain some until Qurban.
Look at your week. Everyone is planning very detail for their dunya but they never plan for ahiret. They never plan. Everything detail, for dunya, everyone has a whole schedule for the day. ‘This is what I’m going to do, this is what I’m going to do, from this time to this time.’ What are we planning for ahiret? Are we having any plans, any details? No. Everyday passing like this, like that. But during the month of Ramazan, there is detail, correct? Correct or no? We fast, we are going to pray Tarawih, pray some Tahajud, ‘I’m going to recite this , I’m going to do this, I’m going to make Tafakkur.’ Why we are not doing it past the month of Ramazan? Why are we not planning, to say, ‘ this week my aim is to complete this much zikr, to complete this much prayer, to complete this much tilawat, to complete this much. Then from this Jumma until the next Jumma. Then I’m going to say, this one I did or not? This one I did or not?’
Because Ramazan, all these fasting and praying and making ibadat, all of these, all of it, is just stepping on your ego. All of it is not running after this dunya and your desires and stepping on your ego, to pull yourself back from the world and to sit. Correct? Then plan in the month of Shawwal, plan in your weeks, plan in your days and say at least today I’m going to do this, I’m going to pray this. Have that intention. Have that intention Insya’Allah and that time, like you said, whatever that you harvested it is enough for the whole year. Don’t just finish it in one, two days. Those ones who are, in the month of Ramazan, they are running after dunya, and eating and enjoying, and just the desires of their ego, after the month of Shawwal, they are just going to go back to their old habit right before Ramazan, it is as if Ramazan never came.
Ramazan it is a Sultan. If the Sultan comes and passes, you still feel the presence there. Correct? In the old country, even if the Sultan passes through a village, you are going to say, you are going to put something: Sultan pass through here. It’s going to be what? Forever. So everyone goes there, Sultan was here. So Ramazan is a Sultan of the month. It came and went. How is it making an impact on us? Alhamdulillah, at least we have once a week here, zikir. At least we have Jumma here altogether. Continue being a robot, you have nothing. Nothing. Continue being a robot and just saying, ‘oh just another zikir, just another sohbet, just same old jumma.’ Your heart will be dead in not time. Believe me. You don’t need sheytan that time. You are killing it yourself. But if you are looking forward and preparing yourself for the zikr and for the sohbet, cleaning yourself, maybe reading something, maybe listening something, put yourself in the mode, that time the zikr is different. The sohbet is going to be different. The jumma is going to be different. It’s not a routine. It’s not robotic. Because you put something there.
Insya’Allah, may Allah never make us to kill our hearts. May our hearts be excited with the things that Allah is happy with. May our hearts be dead to the things that Allah is not happy with. May Allah forgive me and bless you. Al-Fatiha.
