Question: What is the goal of Tarikat?
BismillahirRahmanirRahim. Tarikat means way. Shariat means way. The Tarikat, it is to prepare you for Divine Presence. Tarikat it is not to prepare you for this world. It is not to prepare you for the people of this world. It is not to prepare you for this future. A Tarikat it is to prepare you to become that one that Allah is saying, ‘O My servant. Come.’
To be able to do that, first you have to understand if you already think that you are a servant, you are a good one, you will never be in Tarikat. You will think this is nothing, I’m already a good one. But who is putting that title on you? You by yourself? Tarikat is for people who are understanding the reality of themselves a little bit and they are understanding the reality of this world a little bit and they are finding the guide, the reality of that guide and they are asking that guide, ‘lead me.’ Lead me to where? Lead me to where? ‘Guide me.’ Guide me where? Guide me in the straight path. Ihdinas Siratul Mustaqim. Straight path. Not deviate. Not corrupt. To prepare us for Divine Presence.
It is not easy. It is not easy. May Allah make it easy for us Insya’Allah. Why am I saying it is not easy? The prize is very high. The blessing is very great. But the test for that, the difficulty, it is also great. Allah SWT is saying, ‘do you think that you will go to the Paradises of the Prophets and the Sahabis, the righteous ones, do you think that you are going to be there without us testing you?’ We are not asking Allah to test us. We are asking Allah to keep us in the straight path. The path of those whom He has favored. Once you start understanding a little bit of your reality first, then it is easier for you to understand how to remove the veils that are in front of your heart surrounding you. Once you remove that, Insya’Allah ar-Rahman we’ll be close, close to our Lord, we will be able to know our Lord, we will be able to worship. Because that is the reason of our creation. To know Allah and to worship Allah. It’s nothing more than that.
May Allah make us to be in this way, clean and easy. May Allah not make us to be deviated from this way and to always hold on to the jubbah of our Sheykh. Wa minallahu Taufiq. AlFatiha.
