Question: What is the reason for the start of the Hijri calendar starting from the Hijrah instead of, say Mevlid?
From the Hijrah instead of the Mevlid? The one who selected that, I believe it was Hz Umar who started it, somebody told him that it was: I receive your letter, undated. So all the high level Sahabis, they came and Hz Umar, he’s known for his justice, for his fairness and for setting up law. He’s like, he has the makam of Hz Musa (AS). Each of the Sahabis they occupying that makam of that particular Prophet. You understand? They are not prophets, but they have that makam.
Hz Abu Bakr as-Siddik, like Hz Ibrahim (AS). Hz Ali has been described as Hz Isa. So Hz Umar, was Hz Musa (AS). So he’s very just and he’s very strict with certain things. And they decided now, that the time that they are going to select, the date that things are going to change, how, this event is now going to change this whole world when Islam became a ruling system. It’s the time of the Prophet (AS) Hijrah. You understand?
That is when Islam became not a religion. It became a lifestyle, it became a governance. A system of ruling: meaning from the private, to the very public, from the lowest to the highest. That was the point. Hijrah is going to start, that is the turning point. There was also concern, they didn’t want to make it too much. Just like we are going to start, for example, Isa (AS) or the other ones and say this is an act where the whole world now is going to know that islam now has become a ruling system, has become powerful. Because when the Prophet (AS), when he was born, he did not come. He spent 13 years in Makkah, and those 13 years in Makkah, after his birth, nothing too much powerful, was given to the earlier umat, because that was going to come later when they come to reconquer Makkah. It was a time of, period of training and a period of them to get rid of every illah that they have in their heart except for Allah and to follow the Prophet (AS), not their own tribes, not their own families, not their own history not their own people, nothing, just the Prophet (AS). And when he did that, which is why we have to be very careful, there’s a lot of people they are saying, especially in the english writing, of the history of the Prophet, he ‘fled’ to Medina. He did not flee to Medina. He did not run. He was given an order to go. So that mark now – complete change. And that is a very historic moment now, in Islam. So just as it was the period where Islam now, instead of being a persecuted Muslims, early Muslims a persecuted minority, now they come into Medina as the rulers, as the rules of that city. It is not through conquest it is not through anything, it is through invitation. So it was an important time.
Hijrah, understand that this whole life that we have is a hijrah. We migrate from position to position, form to form, world to world. And when we make that hijrah, that is the time when newness opens up. Understand?
InshaAllah. When is our new year? Which month? First of January? Middle of January? Heh. Worth to take a look at. Why is it called Muharram, why is it called Rabiulawal, Rabiulahir. Why is it called Safar? Why? You Understand? Because we know our western illusion and delusion calendar so well but even if you look at all the names of the days in the week, there is nothing but mushrik influences. Sunday is the sun day, Monday is the moon day. Friday they say we like these northern European so we like one women name Frida, so Friday. Wednesday – those of you who like Viking kind of things – oh it’s Odin’s day. From Orooaoe to Wednesday. Understand? I’m not joking, it’s real. So Thursday they say, Thor’s day. Who knows maybe 100 years from now, 500, we are going to change everything, because we like Batman, so Monday we call it Batman-day. They like Spiderman, so Sunday – be Spiderday.
Breh, don’t laugh this is what people are doing in countries. You know? Which country it was, in Central Asia? Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. He’s saying I’m changing everything. Is it the months? The months right? I don’t’ like this February, January, March. I don’t like these things. He said, January is, his name is say, Mehmet, for example. I want from now on January is called Mehmet. February? No more February, I like my mother so say my mother’s name is Khatija. So February is going to be Khatija. And then March is going to call his cousin, this is Horse, this is…
It’s happening, it’s happening today, it happened yesterday. Allah is saying, don’t play around with time. I have already set it. It’s very simple. Day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5. Day 5? No, Jumaah. Day 6, day 7. Enough. That’s how it is. What else you want? You not happy? Go make your own country, call it anything you want. Especially bengalis. They have their own names. InshaAllah may Allah keep our purity of belief in these very dark times. Fatiha. Khayr. MasaAllah. This much is enough.
