How do we know what is for us?

Question: Sheykh Lokman Effendi stated that we should learn ‘what is for us’. How do we know what is for us?

Every murid is looking for the Murad. And the reason the one who gives you your secret, what is for you, it depends on how much you want it. You say you really want what is for you, then even if that knowledge is in China, you’re going to go to get it. But if you are interested to know what is for you, but there are barricades that you cannot overcome, we say, no need to look for that, what is right in front of you, the job that you have to do, responsibilities that you have, concentrate on that.

You may be chosen to attend the best school in the world, and you are learning from the best teachers. And the teachers are going to say, ‘You’re going to get this training. And you are going to take from here, and you’re going to do what is for you.’ Now, to get to the school, just to be admitted into the school, there is nothing. You have to attend the classes. To attend the classes now, also, it’s nothing. You have to graduate, you have to pass. Now passing is also nothing if you don’t get a job. So now, even if we are saying, ‘We have found a Sheykh now,’ it depends on how much you want what is in it for you. You want that, then, our role models are who? The Sahabi e-kiram. That the khutbah is just saying, Hadiths-e-Sharif, these are the ones who, did what? Like the Sahabi e-kiram they left everything. They have no bonds of family with each other, they love each other for Allah’s sake, and these are the ones who are the friends of Allah.

So, if that is to  big a price for people to pay, then whatever it is that is in front of you that you have to fulfill, like I said, your family, yourself, this and that, all those responsibilities you have to fulfill. Which everyone is fulfilling anyway, I’m not saying that when you come you are not going to fulfill all these responsibilities. You’re going to fulfill these responsibilities and you are going to add on top of that other things, on top of that other things, continuously. The price is too great for some people, difficult for some people, we understand and we say, no need insyaAllah, keep the connection that is strong, and continue in your way. But understand that too, to keep the connection that is strong, then to take the sohbets and to put it in your life.

So many they are listening, but they are not really putting the sohbets in their lives. We are not here to force people, we are not here to say anything, as they like, too. But now, we cannot compare them to those ones who just listen to the sohbet, it doesn’t matter whether you are far away or you are right in front of me physically, you are going to listen to the sohbet but you are not putting it in your life. It’s very different than from those who take the sohbets and they put it in their life. Once you start doing that then you start knowing what is in there for you. Slowly, you are going to start working towards that. You are going to understand, ‘what is my niche in this plan?’ As all the Sahabi e-kiram they understood what is their place amongst the Dergah, in the Dergah, of the Holy Prophet (asws).

Khayr insyaAllah. May Allah make it easy for you, al-Fatiha.
