Question: How can you train your mind to be sharper and to think one step ahead?
Stick close to me, okay? Certain things you have to let go like that, and you have to practice so many things. I’m not claiming I know, really. I learned a lot from Sheykh Effendi, and so many things, maybe in the beginning, I’m saying ‘oh, this is opposite to what I was being taught.’ I don’t say, ‘it is opposite to what I’m being taught, and my thinking, the way I’m being taught is better.’ No. I’m saying ‘this is opposite, oh, this must be better. Let me try this.’ Just try it. You try it and it’s proven to you, it is better. InsyaAllah.
You have to train yourself. There’s some discipline that is going to be there. You have to be in close contact. You cannot just be here once a month, once a week. You’re not going to pick up too much. Certain things if you want to change, your habits, you have to make a new habit. You cannot change your habit just because you’re saying ‘I want to change it.’ You have to remove that with a new habit. Then you have, you, I’m not going to force you, you yourself you have to put it in your life. You yourself you have to force. ‘Oh, I like to sit like this. No, that’s not sunnat, I have to sit like this.’ Every time you want to sit like that you say, ‘no.’ You have to change, you have to change. You have to put some discipline there. You are not changing and putting your discipline there for something that is bad, it’s for something that is good. InsyaAllah, when you do that, then slowly you will have new understanding, it’ll become easy and you’re going to see the results in front of you. Wa minallahu taufiq, Al Fatiha. Amin.
