Question: How is it possible to have doubt in the moment of being saved?
You don’t just change your mind like that, because when the Bani Israel they were there, before that they see so many miracles but then when they see a greater challenge coming from Firaun, then they lose hope because they are, people, not just them, but people they are very used to complaining. Not to be hopeful, not to look at the wisdom, not to wait, not to be patient, but just complaining. Something that looks bad, complain, ‘oh, I knew it, this is going to happen.’ There are whole nations like this, they just complain. Men and women, ‘oh, I knew it, ohhh,’ complaining, this is jahil you understand? ‘Don’t you remember we helped you?’ ‘Yeah, but another thing came,’ they complain. They’re never satisfied, they don’t sit to wait.
So they experienced all those miracles, now they come to the sea and then they say, ‘oh, you see? You see? You see? We’re going to die. He’s a charlatan, we’re going to die. Didn’t I tell you?’ all of that, but what happened with all those Manna and Salwa and everything, ‘doesn’t matter, now we’re going to die.’ Ungrateful. They don’t remember. Quality of the ego, ego never remembers. Sheytan remembers, ego doesn’t remember. The sea split, the sea didn’t split just like that, the sea split into twelve lanes you understand? For each tribe of the Bani Israel, splitting and they were walking. They see that, ‘oh alhamdulillah!’ It’s just like us, something good happens, ‘oh alhamdulillah!’ something bad happens, ‘oh astaghfirullah, why is this happening?’ No shame. So they’re going there, they’re walking, walking, then suddenly they see the Firauns armies coming behind them, they say, ‘oh, now we’re going to die, we never should have…’ complaining. What is that Hz Musa is saying? ‘Proud, stiff-necked people,’ in their own book he’s saying to complain, astaghfirullah, Hz Musa is saying to Allah, ‘what am I supposed to do with this proud, stiff-necked people?’
We have that quality. Proud, stiff-necked, complaining. So lets see who complains. There is the thing. That is also a level of spirituality you know, a person complains or not, or is a person just smiling. Little thing he complains, little thing he’s not happy, little thing he’s… So people of the ahir zaman, this nation, always having that. We should not, insyaAllah, we should take lesson.
