How can we not be tricked with false-patience?

Question: When we burn our ego with patience, how can we know if we are not doing it  with false patience, to not be tricked?

First, the question is ‘when we burn our ego with patience, how can we know if we are not doing it with false patience, so that we are not tricked?’ What is false patience? False patience is, ‘okay, okay, I’m not doing anything,’ but you’re just simmering. Any small thing, you’re going to explode like that.

Sheykh Effendi said we must learn how to swallow things that we don’t like. That’s not enough. False patience is just swallowing. You swallow but you don’t know how to digest. You throw it up, no? He’s saying you must learn how to swallow and you must learn how to digest. You must digest. Okay, we digest. So what happens when you’re digesting? Certain things you take, certain things you pass out. You must know that too. That kind of
patience where you learn how to swallow, that kind of patience where you learn how to digest, that kind of patience, that you know ‘okay, this is good for me, this is no good, I have to pass,’ that kind of patience is not false patience.

So first thing, you have to swallow. A lot of people they spit back at you. We are in this way, we must learn how to swallow. You don’t like it, it hurts, it burns. You must swallow your anger. Once you’ve swallowed the anger, don’t just sit there with the anger and say ‘I am patient you know, I’m patient, I’m patient. Don’t touch me.’ You’re gonna spit it out again. You cannot do that. We’re going to say, okay now you have to learn how to digest. Okay. Meaning you have to sit and think. Okay, let’s cool down a little bit, let’s look at it like this. Cool down a little bit, let’s look at it like this. What about from this angle? ‘That one is wrong.’ Okay, look from his angle. ‘I don’t want to, I don’t like him.’ Learn how to digest. Look from over there, look from over here, look from over there. So now you’re digesting. So now, after digesting you have to pass it. What are you going to pass? The things that’s going to make your stomach upset you going to pass. Those that you say ‘okay, this is good. This one I learned, I could have done it like this, I should do it like that, then I must take,’ that one you take. You got to, when you do that, oh, be in a Jamaat. Be in the Dergah. You ave to take time, you have to sit, you have to think. You have to have time.

Allah make it easy for you insyaAllah. Selam Aleykum.
