The Prophet’s Heart

All praises are due to Allah, Lord of the Universes. All praises are due to Allah, Who says in Surah al-Najm: BismillahirRahmanirRahim, “Nobody will carry the burdens of another; and man can have nothing except what he makes an effort for; and his effort is going to be seen- then he will be rewarded with the fullest payment. And your Lord, He is the Goal. And it is He Who makes you laugh, and makes you cry. And it is He Who gives death and gives life. And He creates in pairs, the male and the female, from a drop of seed when it is poured forth. And He has promised a Second Creation. And it is He who gives enriches and satisfies. He is the Lord of the Mighty Star. And it is He Who destroyed the powerful ancient people of ‘Ad. And Thamud- He did not spare them. And the People of Nuh, truly, they were most unjust and rebellious. And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah), so that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. Then which of the gifts of your Lord, o man, will you dispute about? This is a Warner, of the warners of old. The threatened Hour is very close. None but Allah can bring it forth. Do you wonder about this statement? And you laugh, and you don’t cry, while you are just entertaining yourselves. No! But fall down in Sajdah to Allah, and serve Him. (53:38-62). Sadaqallahuladzim.

“Ya Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Master Muhammad, the Owner of the Crown and of the Miraj and of the Buraq and of the Flag, the Distancer of hardship and disease and drought and illness and pain. His name is written high, served, and engraved in the Holy Tablet and the Pen. The Master of All, Arabs and non-Arabs, whose body is holy, fragrant and pure, enlightened in the Holy House and the Sacred Boundaries. The Sun of Brightness, the Full Moon in Darkness, the Foremost One in the Highest Fields, the Light of Guidance, the help for the helpless, the Lamp that extinguishes darkness. He has the most beautiful qualities, the Intercessor for all the nations. The Possessor of Majesty and Generosity. And Allah is his Protector, and Jibreel is his servant, and Buraq is his steed, and the Miraj is his journey, and the Sidratul Muntaha is his station, and the Qaba Qawsayn is his goal, and he reached his goal. The Master of the Messengers, the Seal of the Prophets, the Intercessor of the Sinners, the Friend of the Poor, the Mercy to the Universes, the Coolness of the Ashiks, the Goal of the Seekers, the Sun of the Arifeen, the Light of the People of Suluk, the Lamp of the Near Ones, the Beloved of the Poor, the Needy, and the Miskeen. The Master of the worlds, the Prophet of the Sacred Houses, the Imam of the Two Qiblas, our Means in the two worlds. The Possessor of Qaba Qawsayn. The Beloved of the Lord of the two easts and two wests. The Grandfather of Hasan and Huseyn, and Master, and the Master of Everything. Abul Qasim Muhammad ibn Abdullah- a Light from the Light of Allah- O you who are seeking the light of his beauty, send peace and blessings upon him and his family.” (Salat el-Taj).

Ya Allah, may peace and blessings be upon his blessed family and noble companions, especially upon the Four Khulafa-el-Rashideen, Hz. Abu Bakr el-Siddiq, Hz. Umar el-Faruq, Hz. Osman el-Ghani, and Hz. Ali el-Murtaza, and all those whofollow them until the Last Day. May peace and blessings be upon the Evliyaullah, the Possessors of the Prophetic Secret. May peace and blessings be upon our Ottoman Ejdad, the Glorious Ottomans, and upon all those who honor them until the Last Day.

Allahumma Barik Lana fi Rajab wa Shaban wa Ballighna Ramazan.

Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! O Believers! Welcome to you on the last Jummah of Rajab  Shahrullah. Inshallah ar-Rahman, if Allah gives us life, next Jummah we will have entered into the Month of Shaban, the Month of Rasulallah. While we are happy to welcome the month of the Prophet (AS), we must feel sad that we are leaving the month of Allah. We must look at what we have done in this month, what we have lost and what we have gained, to be able to enter into the month of the Prophet (AS) prepared.

Rajab is a Glorious Month. Sultan el-Evliya Seyh Mevlana Muhammad Nazim Adil el-Hakkani (KS) is saying: “This month arrived and is blessed with Divine Glory. If a month starts with Divine Glory it means that The Lord of Heavens and Earth will take His (SWT) Vengeance from those who kill the servants of Allah (SWT) with no reason, with no rights! He (SWT) gave an order, the first order from the beginning of this blessed month, with a Heavenly addressing – “Stop killing! Otherwise He (SWT) Will take Vengeance! Those who do not stop killing, Allah (Azza wa Jalla) Will take revenge. This is the first order that was given, the evening of the blessed month of Rajab Al Murajjab.

O people stop killing in general and especially to the Muslim people. O Muslims stop the killing! Otherwise The Lord of Heavens Will take His revenge on you.” May Allah (SWT) protect us from the Vengeance of Allah (SWT), and may Allah protect us from being from the category of Tyrants. And may Allah take His revenge on the tyrants.

O Believers! We still have some days and nights left in Rajab. Allah (SWT) is shaking the world in this Month. Allah (SWT) is reminding the world of His Power in this Month. Allah (SWT) is checking the hearts of believers in this month to see, who do they love and who do they fear? Who do they trust? Who do they depend on? Those who love Allah, those who fear Allah, those who trust in Allah, and those who depend in Allah, then Allah is enough for them. They don’t fear from anything else. There is no panic, there is no hysteria, there is nothing will shake their faith. There is no anxiety because they know Allah. Allah SWT is showing His power. Nothing will shake their faith because they know, “Wal Qadri, Khayrihi wa Sharrihi”, the Destiny, good and bad, it is all from Allah.

This Month is not over yet. Allah (SWT) is always giving us a chance. If we cannot respect this month, then shame on us. The whole world is shutting down. Everyone, whether they want to or not, they are shutting themselves inside their houses, like a khalwat. If believers cannot run to Respect of Holy Days and Nights in such a time, then it is a shame. Let the unbelievers spend their Khalwat in playing music and singing to each other. The believers must spent it differently. We must spend this khalwat in fear and in shame and in love with our Lord.

As Sahib el-Sayf is saying: “Week after week, year after year I am saying, Sheykh Mawlana is saying and we are going to say. The holy days and the holy nights are approaching. In these nights take it seriously. Take it seriously! It’s only five nights a year, not ten. There are three hundred and sixty five days in a year and there are only five nights that are very holy. You cannot keep up with that? What kind of faith you have then? Where is your faith? Are you going to give me excuses? Give me one million excuses but it’s not good for anything. No excuses can pass for that for a believer. If a believer says, “I have an excuse. In three hundred and sixty five days I cannot save five days for Allah and His Prophet (AS),” then I have doubt with your faith. We are not playing here. We are not here for picnic. We are not here to have only good times and tea parties. We are here to worship. And those who does not want to worship, they have no place with me. They have a very short time.”

So we are about to enter into one of those Holy Nights- one of the holiest nights. Isra wal Miraj. Miraj Kandili. The Night that Sayyidina Muhammad (AS) was taken from the earth to the heavens, to the Sidratul Muntaha, and beyond. It is a night of celebration. Imam Sharafuddin el-Busiri (KS) is saying in Burdah Sharif, about how the Ummat should take this night, and the ummat was taking this night like this when there was a Khalifah. It was taking this night like this when it had an empire. It was taking this night like this for over one thousand three hundred and something years until the ummat decided, ‘we don’t want Khalifatullah, we want to be Khalifah. We don’t want to belong to the empire of Islam, we want nationalism. We want to determine our own faith, our own lives and our own religion and we had dropped that. But look, look to see how Imam el-Busri saying: “O People of Islam! Good news to us, for we have been given a Favor from Allah, a Pillar that can never be destroyed. When Allah invited Muhammad (AS) to His Presence, He invited us to His obedience. By the Noblest of Prophets, we became the noblest of nations.” (Burdah, 7:13).

We have our traditions for Miraj, Elhamdulillah. Elhamdulillah, insyaAllah ar-Rahman, We will gather, we will read the Mevlid, we will remember the Miraj. But what are we learning from that Miraj? Over one hundred years since the Khilafat was veiled, the ummat has forgotten the Miraj. So they have been stuck in this world and they are sinking lower and lower. And it’s only until recently that people start to celebrate this, to come out from this shame that the wahabbis have put on us to say that this is a bida’at. But it is too late. Now, we are celebrating it, but what is the lesson in this time, in this place, in this moment, that we must take from that Miraj? To take the hikmet of the miraj, we have lost.

We are believers. It is not enough for us to make ritual and repeat it over and over again. We are following the Evliyaullah. We are following the meaning of Islam. We must make this Miraj night alive for us, and we must make real tafakkur in this night. Our Holy Prophet (AS), he is not a character in a book, or a historical figure. He is fresh and he is alive and he is real. We cannot know the Reality of the Holy Prophet (AS). But so that we may have some familiarity, Allah (SWT) sent him in the human form. He did not come to this world and just open his hands for dua and expect things to happen. He showed us how to struggle for Allah sake. He lived in this world. He sat with people, he spoke to them, he helped them, he ate with them. He suffered in this world. He laughed and he cried. He went through hunger and starvation. He went through tests and difficulties. He had feelings. If you don’t feel in your heart what your Prophet feels, then what kind of an Ummeti are you? If you don’t feel what your Sheykh feels, then what kind of a murid are you?

Evliyaullah, they are Evliya because their heart is feeling what Holy Prophet (AS) is feeling. And the Great Evliya, Sahib el-Sayf, is telling us about the heart of Holy Prophet (AS) before the Miraj, saying: “Holy Prophet (AS) felt lonely. He didn’t feel lonely for himself. He did feel lonely because he saw how great and how tough a job is waiting for him. And looking around and not finding help anymore. And that time, he went to Makkah, he went to Kabba, on one side. He lay down, just like an orphan individual. He was an orphan. He didn’t have anyone. So many that was around him, they were also waiting something from him. They were expecting something from him. He was the only one who understand his Lord correctly. Nobody else. He was eating his heart out to give something to them. Yes, but they were very arrogant and they were attacking him from left and right. And he was very sad. Thinking, how I am going to do this job tomorrow. He wasn’t worry about what I am going to eat for tomorrow. He didn’t worry what I am going to drink tomorrow. He didn’t worry what am I going to wear tomorrow. He didn’t worry I have ten cars and I am not going be able to buy the eleventh one. He didn’t worry that he didn’t have luxury. He was worrying, he was very sad. Because the rahmat, the blessing Allah sent to this people through that Shahadat, they were running away from that Shahadat. And little help he had around. They were passing away from this world. That’s why he was worrying. Because he also knows that now he cannot reach to the enemies to speak to them anymore (because of the passing of Abu Talib ra). He needs other ones to put between to reach to these ones. He knew that. And he was very sad. And, in that sadness, he went to sleep.

So Allah Jallahu was watching, just like now he is watching. You are so heedless, but not understanding, yes. He was watching, Allah is watching His servant. Allah is watching that servant, that his heart is kicking for the nation, that his heart is crying for this nation. Allah is always watching that kind of servant. So the Holy Prophet (AS) was very sad, and with that sadness he went to sleep. And Allah Jallahu Allah is saying to His angels, “now go to My Beloved. Don’t leave him alone. And go and show him what I have prepared for him.” And the angels start coming down. And Jibril AS is the only one allowed to come to his presence. And he came. And Holy Prophet (AS) saying, “I opened my eyes and I looked, they cut through my throat, all the way down. They took out my heart. The Angels, they washed my heart.” They made heart operation. They cut it physically, they took it out. And they washed it with what they brought from the heavens and they put it back. And Jibril (as) saying, “Ya Muhammad (AS). Your Lord didn’t forget you. And he is with you. So now He is given invitation to you. He is waiting for you.”

O Believers! If these words of the Friend of the Prophet is not making your heart to melt, to become soft, then put a question to your heart.  Understand that your heart has become dead. That it only melt and become soft when you are worrying  about yourself. Because a heart that is not moved by these words is dead. Just like the people who came to Hz. Hasan el-Basri and said: Ya Shaykh, we do not know what is wrong with us. He asked them what they meant and they said: Our hearts are not affected when you recite the Holy Quran and Hadith to us. Hz. Hasan al-Basri said to him, “If reading of the Holy Quran and Hadith do not affect your hearts, do not say that your hearts are asleep. Instead say that your hearts are dead. Even a sleeping person awakes when shaken awake. If someone sleeping does not awaken when shaken, he is not asleep but dead.”

And Seyh Efendi is saying: “Hearts are dead. DEAD. No feeling anymore, not feeling nothing. Nothing. That’s when why sometimes when you slap a person, nothing happens. DEAD! No reaction to them. Allah created you human, you have to feel. You have to cry. You have to laugh. You have to hate. Eh. What? Islam is teaching us to hate? Yeah, you have to hate those that they are hating Allah and His Prophet. For Allah’s sake, not for your own ego. So you lost.”

These are the days, these are the nights, to wake up that heart. Listen to what Seyh Efendi is saying about Holy Prophet (AS). Listen to the pain. Do you know why Seyh Efendi can convey that pain? Because he was going through the same tests, he was walking on the same path. Evliyaullah have gone through those trials, through those feelings, and they have the Holy Prophet in their heart. Allah (SWT) is saying in Surah al-Ankabut: BismillahirRahmanirRahim, “Do men think they will be left alone just to say, “we believe,” and they won’t be tested? We did test those before them- and Allah will definitely know those who are True from those who are false.” (29:2-3) Sadaqallahuladzim.

Today’s people, we just want easiness. We just want everything to be nice and easy and fun and entertaining. If that’s what we want, and if that’s what we are getting, then we need to question our faith. Because, as Evliya are saying, the sign Allah doesn’t love someone is that he doesn’t even give that person a toothache. And the proof of loving Holy Prophet (AS) is that you are going to walk in his path, and you are going to feel what he felt. Today’s Muslims, today’s Muslims they don’t have toothache. Today’s Muslims who have ease, from the leaders to all those ones who are following them, today’s Muslims who look at the suffering of other Muslims and laugh and they build palaces of gold and they become friends with the enemies of Islam, today’s Muslim leaders who became best friends with the unbelievers and they trade their blood for gold, disaster is waiting for them. And Holy Prophet (AS) saw that disaster in the Miraj.

Seyh Efendi is saying: He saw so many different type of people suffering in Jahannam. And he is asking to Jibril (AS), saying, “which nation is this, ya Jibril, that they are suffering so much?” And Jibril saying to him, “Ya Muhammad. This is your nation.” Saying, “my nation?” Saying, “Yes, Muhammad. This is the nation that is going to come after you. This is the nation that is going to come in Ahir Zaman. This is the nation that they are going to claim- but they are not going to carry what you left to them. They are going to betray you after you leave. Their tongue is going to say, but their life is going to be completely different. They are going to live worse than unbelievers. So this is the punishment they are going to carry.”

Yes, we are those ones because our life is only concentrating on this dunya. Only this worldly matter. The only time they are remembering, the only time when the nation remembers, when they are getting stuck, when they are getting in trouble, when they are getting sick. And when they are in lock position they cannot turn anywhere anymore, knowing they are locked up completely, and they turn to Allah. And soon as ease comes to them, they forget Allah again. Yes. Watch yourselves. Say to yourselves. “Am I that one?” Fix yourself if you are. Correct yourself. To know that Allah doesn’t need you. But you need Allah. To know this religion doesn’t need you. But you need this religion. To know Allah Jalla wa Alla, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, he is going to complete this religion with you or without you. If you are in it, you will be the most blessed one in the Judgment Day. Even the Prophets they will be looking at and admiring those people that they reach to Ahir Zaman and so many things is happening to them, but they don’t give up,they hold tightly. Yes. This is what we have to do.”

O Believers! Wake up. Wake up our hearts. We must wake up our hearts. We must wake up and fix our relationship with our Lord, with our Prophet, with our Sheykh. Because if we are just moving through this life ghaflat and without feeling, then we are dead. If the feelings that we have is not for ahiret life but only for this life, we are dead. And Allah (SWT) does not accept dead hearts. Mevlana Rumi (KS) is saying: “How will you impress Allah? You are a hundred thousand dinars in his debt. If you bring him a dead heart, carrying it like a coffin on your shoulders, Allah will say to you, “O you cheater. Is this a graveyard? Bring me an alive heart. Bring me an alive heart!”

O Believers. This is Allah’s Month. We are going to reach to the Night that Allah invited His Habib to His Presence. Isn’t it enough warning and punishment that in the night that Allah is inviting His habib to His presence, Allah has made forbidden so many Muslims to gather to remember this night, to come to His presence together?

Do we think that if we turn to Allah sincerely in that night, and cry to Him and beg to Him, that He will turn us away? We are more afraid of that which we cannot see, of that sickness than we are afraid of the Creator of that sickness and the cure that comes with Him. He is Allah the Kerim. Definitely He will not let us leave empty. Turn to Allah. We are asking to give us an alive heart Ya Rabbi!

Give us an alive heart. Give us a heart that has feeling for our Prophet. Give us a heart that has feeling for our Sheykh. Give us a heart that has feeling for this Ummat. Give us a heart that is understanding our disobedience and rebelliousness against you. Give us a heart to ask for sincere forgiveness from You in this Holy nights. Give us a heart to be able to live in this world with faith and to leave this world with faith. Give us a heart that is acceptable to You. For the sake of those whose hearts have become Your Arsh. Amin.
