All praises are due to Allah, the Lord of the Universes. All praises are due to Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. BismillahirRahmanirRahim “Truly, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne. He covers the night with the day, (another night) chasing it rapidly. And He has made the sun and the moon and the stars, all governed by laws under His Command. Truly, His is all creation and commandment. Blessed be Allah, Lord of the Worlds! O mankind! Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret. Truly, He does not love the aggressors. Don’t make confusion in the earth after it has been set in order, but call on Him in fear and hope. Truly, the Mercy of Allah is near to those who do good.” Sadaqallahul Azim (7:54-56).
May peace and blessings be upon our Master Sayyidina Muhammad (AS), who said in his Hadith Sherif: “Whoever reads a single Salawat on me will be blessed ten times by Allah (SWT), and whoever recites ten Salawats will be blessed a hundred times by Allah (SWT), and whoever recites Salawats a hundred times will be blessed a thousand times by Allah (SWT). And whoever sends Salawats to me with love and respect, I will be his Intercessor and Witness on Judgment Day.” (Al Qawl al-Badi’).
“Ya Allah, send your peace and blessings upon our Master Muhammad (AS), the Opener of what was closed, the Seal of what came before, the Helper of the truth by the Truth, the Guide to your Straight Path. And bless his family as is fitting to his great status and majesty.” (Salat al-Fatih).
May peace and blessings be upon him, and upon his noble family and blessed companions, especially upon the Four Khulafa-e-Rashideen. Holy Prophet (AS) said: “Whoever speaks good about Hz. Abu Bakr, his religion is well-established. Whoever speaks good about Hz. Umar, his religious path has been well-grounded. He who speaks good about Hz. Osman is enlightened with the Noor of Allah. He who speaks good about Hz. Ali holds onto a bond that never breaks. The true believers are those who speak good about by Companions.” (Shawaa’id al-Haqq). May peace and blessings be upon the Mashayikh of the Naksibendi Way, the Inheritors of the Prophetic Tradition. May peace and blessings be upon the Ottoman Ghazi Sultans, who gave their blood and their spirits to protect and preserve the Sunnat-i-Rasul.
Ya Ayyuhal Mu’minoon! O Believers! Welcome, welcome to you on the Second Jummah of the Month of Ramazan. O Believers! These are from the best days and nights of the year. We must spend them in a way that pleases our Lord. Holy Prophet (AS) is saying: “Throughout the month of Ramazan, Allah (SWT) makes this announcement: “O my male and female servants! Be of good cheer! Be patient! Continue to endure! I am about to grant you relief from trouble and pain, and you will soon reach to My Mercy and My Generous Favor.” (Ghunya). Alhamdulillah, we are still in the First Third of the Month, so we are continuing to ask Allah (SWT) for His Mercy, saying Ya Arham Ar-Rahimeen, Arhamna! May we not be deprived of the Mercy of Allah in these days of Mercy.
The Holy Prophet (AS), he came as Basheer and Nazeer. He came as the Giver of Good News, and the Warner. Yes, during this Ramazan, we are hoping to hear the good news and the good announcements from the Heavens. But as believers, we must also be on guard and be in fear from the warning of punishment and the displeasure of our Lord.
One of the Sahaba, Hz. Kaab ibn Ujrah, is telling us that once Holy Prophet (AS) told the people to come near the Mimbar. When he climbed the first step, Holy Prophet (AS) said, Amin. When he climbed the second step, again, he said Amin. When he climbed the third step, one more time, he said Amin. When the Sahaba asked what had just happened, Holy Prophet (AS) said: “When I climbed the first step, Jibril (AS) came in front of me and said, “Destruction upon the person who found the blessed month of Ramazan and let it pass without gaining forgiveness,” so I said Amin. When I climbed the second step, Jibril (AS) said, “Destruction upon the person, that your name is taken and he doesn’t send Salawats upon you,” and I said Amin. When I climbed the third step he said, “Destruction upon him in whose lifetime either of his parents reach old age, and he is not allowed to enter Jannah,” and I said Amin.” (Bayhaqi).
O Believers! These words are a heavy warning for us in these days of Mercy. The Angel of Revelation, Jibril (AS), the Messenger between Allah and the Prophets, came down to put a curse on those who do not find the forgiveness of Allah during Ramazan. And more than that, Rasulallah (AS) said Amin to the curse that Jibril (AS) put on such people. The first and only thought that an intelligent man can have after hearing this Hadith is, am I doing something that is preventing me from reaching to Allah’s forgiveness?
So many today are taking the Mercy of Allah and the Forgiveness of Allah for granted. They are thinking, to use the modern word, that they are entitled to receive the Mercy of Allah. They think that Jannat is their inheritance that they have a right to, whether they deserve it or not. They think that Allah (SWT) is their buddy who is going to let them off the hook, no matter what they do. That may be the teaching in the other religions. But that is not the teaching of the Islam that is brought by Sayyidina Muhammad (AS). The Kuran-i-Kerim is filled of histories of other nations that thought that they had a right to Allah, a right to Allah’s Mercy, a right to Allah’s favor.
And Allah (SWT) is giving warning in Holy Kuran, that if anyone takes that attitude, Allah will replace them with those who love Allah and run with passion in the Way of Allah. He (SWT) is saying, BismillahirRahmanirRahim “O you who believe! Whoever of you becomes a traitor to his religion- Allah will bring (in his place) a people that He loves, and they love Him, humble toward the believers, stern toward the disbelievers, struggling in the way of Allah, and not fearing the blame of any blamer. This is the Favor of Allah which He gives to whom He wills. Allah is the All-Embracing, All-Knowing. Your real friends are none but Allah, His Messenger, and the fellowship of believers- those who establish Salat and Zakat, and bow down. And whoever turns for friendship to Allah, His Messenger, and the fellowship of believers- it is the fellowship of Allah that are the victorious.” Sadaqallahul Azim (5:54-56).
We are not entitled to Allah’s Mercy and Love. Allah (SWT) is describing those who catch His Love in these Ayats. They are people who love him. They are people who care about the believers. They are people who stand up against zulm and injustice. They are the people who run with passion in the Way of Allah. They are the people who stand up for Hakk no matter what, not caring what anyone says. That is the Sohbet of those who are favored by Allah. Those are the ones who get the Mercy and Forgiveness and Love of Allah.
So in Ramazan, we must be asking ourselves, what am I doing? Am I doing something to catch the curse of Jibril (AS)? Am I doing something that’s putting me out from the believers that Allah (SWT) is describing in these ayats? Look to the words of Sahib el-Sayf, look to the words of our Sheykh, who is saying: “Too sad. They should be too sad, the ones who (are destroying) the month of Ramazan… If you show the proper respect during Ramazan, if you die that year, you will find the blessings of Ramazan in the grave. If you don’t then you are going to find extra punishment for you in the Ramazan…Ramazan is going to complain about some people on the Judgment Day. Fasting is going to complain… Your fasting, it should be fasting from anger, from pride, from arrogance, from stubbornness, from jealousy, from envy. During Ramazan it should get easier- to some it isn’t. That shows that you are supporting your ego. Sheytan is not there. Sheytan is chained. That shows that you are a slave to your ego- you are not a servant to Allah (SWT). You are a slave to the ego.”
Ramazan will complain about those who remained in the slavery of their egos during the month, and didn’t break free from the chains of the ego to enter the freedom of being the Servant of Allah in this month. The slaves of the ego get nothing from Ramazan- even if their bodies fast and stay up all night in prayer. Who is saying this? Rasulallah (AS) is saying, “Many people who fast get nothing from it except hunger and thirst. And many people who pray at night get nothing from it except tiredness.” (Darimi). If your body is fasting but if your heart is corrupt, what kind of fasting is it? If your body is moving up and down all night in Tarawih and Nafila Ibadet, but you are being a tyrant to everyone around you, then what kind of praying is that?
We must be awake and aware. Allah (SWT) has made this Ramazan completely different from any other Ramazan, maybe even in history. The Masjids are closed, Tarawih is closed, even the Baytul Haram is closed. The whole world has been shut down. Now is the time to wake up before the Punishment of Allah (SWT) descends on the earth. This is the time to run to Allah’s Mercy before the real Azab, the real punishment, hits us as it hit earlier nations. Ramazan will either be the cause of our safety, or it will be the cause of our destruction. Holy Prophet (AS) said: “As long as my Ummat keeps the honor of Ramazan high, they will not be dishonored.” They asked, “What is the dishonoring of the Ummat, ya Rasulullah (AS)?” Holy Prophet (AS) said: “If someone does haram or bad actions, or drinks alcohol, or makes zina, then his Ramazan will not be accepted. And the angels and all the inhabitants of Paradise will curse him until the next Ramazan. And if he dies before the next Ramazan, he will come to the Divine Presence with no good deeds.” (Majmu’ al-Sagheer). May Allah protect us from such an ending.
But this warning is not just from Holy Prophet (AS)’s time. It is continuing with his inheritors. Sultan el-Evliya Seyh Mevlana Muhammad Nazi Adil el-Hakkani (KS) is saying: “Ramazan now arrived and it is a last chance for humanity to take power over their egos, to take the power away from their egos and to give to their spiritual power. If they are not doing this, then don’t cry about what is going to happen. Billions, not millions, billions are going to die. Fasting is fighting against your egos- if you don’t do this, you are going also… In Holy Ramazan maybe Heavens are delaying the cursing, and Allah Almighty is looking at His Servants and what they are doing. And perhaps the Holy Will of Heavens will come down through Shawwal. When that happens, it is not going to stop until Heavenly Revenge is taken against all nations that are making their egos their Sultans and are not obeying the orders of the Sultan of the Heavens…whoever is not fasting, not praying, not obeying- cursing arrows are coming on their heads and nobody can save them.”
O Believers! We must return to the Pleasure and Obedience and Submission of our Lord. Ramazan comes to make this easier for us. Ramazan is the time that Allah (SWT) is calling out in the Night for us to run back to His Mercy. And His Mercy comes to us through the Mercy of the Universes, Rahmatalil Alameen. And his inheritors are in this world, stretching out their hand, trying to bring us back to that Mercy. We should not swipe that hand aside. We must grab onto it, because it will bring us to the Firmest Handhold.
O Believers! Evliyaullah they are here to bring us to the Rida of Allah. Listen to the words of Ghawth al Azam, who is saying: “Allah is urging you to be from those who remember Him, so that you might be remembered in His Presence. When running for His Master, the good servant must remember him constantly. You are too fast asleep to understand that you are letting the pleasure of the People of Allah pass by you. O heedless one, won’t you wake up? You are so out of touch with what should really concern you. You’re so smart with dealing with your dunya, but when it comes to the business of Ahiret, you became completely stupid. It’s like you’re in quicksand, and every move you make pulls you deeper. Lift your hands to Allah with a sincere call for safety, for tawba, for forgiveness, so He can save you from this mess. Here I am, I’m calling you to fight your nafs, your hawa, your reactions, your animal desires, and to be patient. Listen to me, because you’re going to see the benefit, sooner or later… Who has courage to struggle in this Way? Don’t run away! Be patient, and then be more patient. Courage is an hour’s patience…When someone is ready to sacrifice himself, he gets yaqeen (certainty). When you know what your True Goal is, it doesn’t matter anymore, what you need to do is to reach there.”
The invitation to return to the Pleasure of Allah, it has been given to us. This is Ramazan. These are days of Mercy, of Forgiveness, of Freedom from the Fire. These are days that Allah (SWT) has made it easier for the servant to control his ego. We should not waste these days. We should not pull the curse of Allah, of His Rasul, and of the Angels in these days. We must wake up, we must have courage, and we should fight against our egos, under the leadership of those who know the tricks and the traps of the ego. We should run to become Servants again in this Holy Month.
We are ending with Seyh Mevlana’s dua, asking, “Ya Rabbi, increase our honor. Please make it easy for us to keep the respect of the holy month. Let us mount our animal-ego and ride above the filth of this dunya! Be clean. Mount your ego. Defeat your ego and they will accept you. May our Ramazan be Mubarek. May our Lord be pleased with us. May His Great Prophet intercede for us.” Amin.
