What does the word “heart” mean in spirituality?

Question: What does the word “heart” mean in spirituality?

SLE sohbet

BismillahirRahmanirRahim. It is that part of yourself, I don’t want to get into technicality. You understand, you understand. I don’t want to get into ‘oh, this is the heart, this is the Kalb, this is the Sirr, this is this and this is that.’ All that kind of technical word, number one, no one understands it anyway. They are all fooling when they say ‘we understand it.’ Number two, you understand it, you cannot convey it and you are going to be stuck with all these things and you don’t understand anything.

When we talk about the heart, we talk about that part of yourself, that most secret part of yourself that you don’t know that is coming from Allah, that there is no doubt. It is part of your spirit, if anything, it is the most important part of your spirit, let’s say. Okay? So when we say, for example, connect your heart to your Sheykh, don’t go so much into diagrams or writings or pictures. Connect your heart, connect yourself. Connect yourself. Be with your Sheykh. Be simple. If you cannot explain these things to a seven year old, to make him to understand, then you never understood it in the first place. That’s why Prophets, they can explain everything and it’s clear. Young and old, black and white, rich and poor, intelligent and the one who doesn’t even read anything. This is lost. Speak simple.

InsyaAllah, we are taking something from our Sheykh, he is teaching us, and insyaAllah we understand some things. May Allah forgive me and bless you insyaAllah. Selam Aleykum.
